I understand you completely. I was a junior at GCHS during that season. I hope that this group of boys enjoys the same success as the 96 team. I have watched many of them grow up and would love for them to experience that.:thumb:

You are right, it does have the potential to cause problems. But I still say that if the stats are used in a contructive way, then there is no harm in it. Not just in basketball, but in baseball, foot ball, or any sport. I remember when my little brother was on the mound warming up, the coaches rarely watched what he was doing. I would stand behind homeplate (outside the fence) and watch his delivery. Was I overstepping my bounds then? I wasn't telling him what pitches to throw, I was just seeing if he needed to move right or left, if he was releasing too quick, etc. By the time he was ready to go against batters, I was back in my seat, letting the coaches do their job.

What if the parent is not only keeping stats, but little notes of helpful hints for the player? Little things such as what shots they are struggling with, problems they are having on defense, etc.? This way, the kid will have an idea on what they need to work on as an individual that will help the TEAM. Sometimes, the coach may miss little things that a player needs to work on, and this is a way for them (the player) to find out.

LOL, Not a coach yet. But as my profile said, I am the father to five future athletes, so I am getting prepared now!

I have seen this happen before. Certain teams who are accustomed to beating other teams crying foul when they are on the losing side. Then, when things are "back to normal" making there own version of a statement to the now depleted teams that were successful before. IMO, Elliott Co. is not the only school in the 16th that some of the less classy individuals are licking their chops for in the future.

This is true. Not only for the citizens of the other towns, but the business owner's also. I am sure that the restaurants, gas stations, etc. enjoy the raise in business created by the tournament. The other town's businesses should be able to have their share, too. Why should all of the money be pumped into one place year after year?

As you can tell, I am a die hard GCHS fan, but...... It is too early to be predicting region tournament winner, IMO. Sure, on paper it looks as if Greenup has what it takes to make another run to Applebee's, but until the teams start playing one another we won't know. Of course, injuries and hurt feeling will play a part in this ,too. From reading earlier posts, this has already been an issue with Boyd. I know last year, one of our senior's was out most of the season with a broken leg. Any team who suffers injuries, be it now or later in the season, runs the possability of having their season shortened come tournament time. This being said, as of right now it is anybody's season. I wish all teams the best, and look forward to a thrilling season and post season.

I believe that he will, simply because he loves the game so much. Also, Greg develops a good relationship with "his boys" and will stay on board for them in the years to come.

Was Russell back to full force? I know that Holmes has been treating a knee injury.

Visiting ball teams may want to bring money with them. I wouldn't put it past the GC admin. to start charging them for the space they take up on the bench!!

As I said, there were no cheerleaders there. There was no pep bands there either.

I thought it would be closer than this. Mason, at times, just couldn't miss. Both teams played hard and deserve applause for a game well played.

Real mature there. I agree with some of the above posts. Why is it that when a small school that has been the whipping boy for years suddenly do well, all of the naysayers become more vocal? Why can't they just be happy that someone else is enjoying their time in the sun? :irked::madman::madman::fight:

I talked to Hicks' dad earlier today. The family is thrilled about this. Congrats to all three players, I know you will make our area proud!!

I agree, BC will do just fine, they always do. But as far as out working all other teams in the 16th, I just don't know about that. Several teams will work just as hard this season. I guarantee there is a group of boys in Lloyd who will argue my point.

I had full intentions of coming to the game on Tuesday. I even took a vacation day from work for it. I couldn't get the day off today, though, so all of you that are going be sure to cheer both teams on for me!

Probably so. I do know that there were no cheerleaders there tonight.

So I heard. I did hear that they had a really nice slide show that all of the boy's will be getting a copy of.

It is hard to think of them as "the boys of Summer" when there is snow on the ground!
