I don't really agree with any of this. Manual has had other successful QB's and the high academic standards haven't stopped Manual from being a consistent top 10 team. The assumption that it is his "last shot" I find somewhat ridiculous.

The last three years Manual has ended there playoff run against St X. The last time Manual beat St X was in 1993 (I think). St X is Manual's big hurdle. Defensively Manual has performed decently. Holding St X to scores of 21, 27, 20, 17, 21, and 10 (all in losing causes) within the last 10 years shows that there was potential to win. However the flip side is that in that same 10 year period St X has shut down Manual (who normally has a very efficient offense) to only one game over 20, seven games under 10, and two of those being shut outs. If Manual wants to improve they need to figure out how to score against St X.

I'm in no way going to argue that T and X are not the best teams. However I don't think it is out of the question for another team to find itself in the picture. Take Manual for example. In "like" contest they were not that far behind Trinity in many games. Had they faced each other last season it wouldn't take a great leap to assume they would have competed.

Considering Manual averaged 38.6 points a game vs teams not named St X, in a schedule that included Male, Central, Ballard, and PRP, it would be hard to argue that losing him will be a positive. I believe the QB Joey Harness will be returning also, it would be his third year starting if I'm correct. The biggest issue with Manual as far as competing with X or T is and always will be line play. That is where St X dominated them last year in the playoff.

If you are Louisville Central why do you really care? Having won the championship last season and building a great deal of respect and credibility in the football community, they really don't need that game. In all likelihood Central can pick up a bigger ticket from a closer team that might travel better. This is in no way a knock on Johnson Central but an acknowledgment the distance between the two schools. I would be surprised if Central can't get any takers on a replacement game.

Numbers provide a calculable advantage, that is the truth. The numbers are there. Those who argue the numbers don't make that big of a difference, I disagree but respect the opinion. I don't however appreciate how both of you are twisting my argument to say what it does not, I never say that is the ONLY reason they win, you two are making that up. And I also vehemently reject the arguments that the rest of 6A isn't trying or providing good football. The last paragraph of the initial post states that the two would probably still be two of the best programs, they just wouldn't "own" it in quite the fashion they do today.

Don't claim victories you didn't earn. And no you wouldn't have trounced Manual this year.

You just made that up. "Numbers alone" was never a part of my argument. You and Birdsfan keep adding it to my argument for some reason, when it was never stated.

I did address it. You aren't competing against the teams that I'm talking about, when your playing them you are losing, as FTBigBird states it, because those schools are twice your size. The schools you are beating aren't the schools I'm talking about. The situation has NOTHING to do with Highlands because T and X advantages and disadvantages (they do have them) are different than Highlands.

Here is the logic. Show me the flaw. Class are divided by enrollment numbers. Therefore numbers have been determined to play a role in a programs ability to compete. The largest differential in enrollment numbers is the one between StX and Trinity and the rest of 6A. Closing the enrollment gap would make 6A more equitable.

Highlands is completely irrelevant to this discussion at all, and your own supporters have only brought them into it. Reread the first part of your post and see how clearly it matches the point I've been making.

Your totally off track. I've never said that numbers are the only determinate to success on the field, I'm saying that T and X have the LARGEST numerical advantage in KY football in comparison to the rest of the field. I'm also saying that the rest of 6A football in Louisville would be more competitive with them if the numbers were similar. I only used examples where Highlands play 4A/6A schools from Louisville. The only other Louisville team you've played is Central and they aren't in the top class.

In the year 2000 Highlands beat Trinity 42- 29 and also a 2-8 Fern Creek team 55-0. Since then... 2001 Male 30 Highlands 0 (called at half time) 2002 Male 35 Highlands 24 2005 StX 45 Highlands 0 2006 StX 35 Highlands 21 By your assessment your not doing as much with people, or you don't have as much fight in the dog, or your coaching isn't as good, or your not trying hard enough. I use the year 2000 because that where I've seen (while always the best) a significant separation from the pack of X and T.

When you field a team that is 90% seniors and juniors its easier to be more disciplined, conditioned, and prepared.

I don't live in NKY. I don't see Highlands play. Any opinion I have of Highlands one way or another is irrelevant due to lack of knowledge, that is all there is to that.

The rest of 6A are not lousy programs. They are good program with a SERIOUS numerical disadvantage, if the numbers more equitable X and T wouldn't dominate as much as they do.

No it certainly doesn't. I'm a perfect example of it, played at Margret Mary then played at Manual. But there was no question that coaches intended on players ending up at T or X. In west end schools I'm sure De Sales and Holy Cross had a similar impact.

There are optimist leagues in Jefferson Co that provide pre-high school football. They aren't as feeder driven as the Catholic system or other similar systems, mostly due to open enrollment in Jefferson Co. In other words the Middletown Eagles don't simply produce players for Eastern High School. Many of these players end up at Ballard, Trinity, Male, Manual, or other schools so Eastern doesn't get as significant an impact of prepping these players. Manual itself is unique in that it has NO feeder school at all. There is no local district to assume or develop talent in anyway.

With only 9 or ten players needed for a basketball team the numbers game isn't as significant. Also Basketball is one of the ONLY sports in which these two programs don't have an extreme level of success. Its your lone bad apple and a poor example of your entire situation.

Emulating is exactly what being proposed. Emulating the numerical advantage that they have. The only fault I have with them is how they so easily find fault with programs whom they have distinct advantages over.
