  1. Whitley girls deserve to be the favorite. They've beaten Corbin and South, it's at Whitley, and given the history of dominance. This is the best team that W'burg has put on the floor in several years, but it would still take an outstanding effort for them to win tonight. The Brimm girl is very tough to stop when she gets the ball in the low post, and she shoots foul shots very well. Another big key will be how W'burg handles Whitley's pressure defense. South had Whitley beat and then turned the ball over constantly in the 4th quarter. If W'burg can avoid turnovers and keep Brimm to a sinle/single they may have a shot. Who knows, those are big "ifs," but that's why they play the game.
  2. I agree wtih all accolades mentioned about Corbin-Rogers is very good player (not best in region, but definitely up with the best), Parsons excellent coach, Martin great addition, but...Whtiley County has so many good players I think they win even AT Corbin, where we all know the cookin is good.
  3. Agree with most. I have a hard time putting B'ville ahead of W'burg. I believe W'burg beat them about 3 times last year, a time or to over the summer, and W'burg has a couple of nice additions to the team. since then.
  4. Paula Goodin. Yes a strong statement, but accurate. Having B'ville, Pineville, and Lynn camp (3 single A's) with Knox Central. Then having W'burg (only single A) with Whitley, Corbin, and South shows that to some its politics over kids.
  5. Penalties hurt also. W'burg was penalized for 180 yards.
  6. Jackets-Be proud. You overachieved all season. The team you were last night is sooo much better than the team you were week 1. Your accomplishments this year far exceeded expectations. That is a tribute to your work ethic and your desire. Coaches-Unbelievable job. What you got out of these young men, how you brought them along, the respect you've earned from them, you are a credit to your profession. The enitre Yellow Jacket football program did this school and community proud. Thanks for the memories, now let's take off the cleats, lace up the sneaks, and move to the hardwood.
  7. Be careful of "blanket policies." Always leave an option for you as a coach to make a decision.
  8. Coach Wright deserves the accolades because of obvious succes, but let's remember the size of his talent pool I think Coach P does a great job at Corbin, but we need to remember, and this is a tribute to him and Corbin High School in itself, Coach P has outstanding assistant coaches also. West and McDaniels both possess head coach basketball knowledge. I have to give the edge to Coach Phipps, while maintaining a great deal of respect for many of the coaches listed. Small talent pool and he has put a competitve team on the floor for many years...Longevity adds some serioius bonus points.
  9. Apex hit the nail on the head. Clay had the pull and Paula Goodin stuck the knife in Williamsburg's back.
  10. How can it be tough to split W'burg and Whitley but not tough to split North and South Laurel?
  11. Williamsburg had solid season last year and should be even better this year (had a very successful summer). The distrcit is so tough with Whitley, South, and Corbin, but they may be able to make a run in the All "A". It's just a shame what KHSAA did to them in them in the realignment.
  12. Some schools/teams don't need mother nature to make a field wet/muddy.
  13. Nobody is even mentioning the fact that many schools have tryouts and cuts. What about the kid that would have made the team if this quitter had not been there to begin with and taken that available spot?
  14. Footballfever is correct on the eligibliity statement. all KHSAA asks is "has this student participtated in varsity contest after enrolling in grade 9?"
