  1. Amen! Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger. Best of luck to Coach Thomas and Coach Gehres and the rest of the staff. These are quality coaches with a great vision of getting the Tigers back to the National attention and rankings that the held less than 5 years ago.
  2. Grant should take this one with ease. The Braves will be victorious in this one.
  3. Campbellsville is good and will have a great season but LCA is better
  4. Coach U has signed on with Gallatin Co.? Good move by the Gallatin Co. staff. He is a man with passion for the game and great knowledge of the game as well. Best of luck to Coach U and Gallatin this season.
  5. Who all is participating in this multi team scrimmage other than Frankfort and Owen Co.?
  6. Does the man have a good football I.Q. cause it seems to me a new coach wouldn't just keep someone on staff (especially if it were someone that did nothing but start touble) to try and get numbers up. If anything one would think that getting rid of a troublesome coach would increase the numbers...........so why hire him back?
  7. The Powell kid from DeSales is definitely deserving to be on this list. He is tough.
  8. What all did he do to undermine last years head coach? If he was such a problem last year why would they hire him back?
  9. Wow! Going from 45-50 players to around 25 is a rather significant drop off. It's a shame that the decline is due to the head coaching (or lack there of) last year (or so I assume this is the cause in the decline of numbers).
  10. Any idea on how many Owen has had come out this year? Just curious to see if numbers went down due to last years roller coaster ride.
  11. What were the roles of these two assistants last year? And other than having a big heart for the kids (which I agree is something to be greatly respected and noticed), why should the new coach hire them back?
  12. What about the assistants that helped out with spring ball and all else that took place while there was no head coach? Are they being considered for a spot on staff or not?
  13. You are right. Just because someone played college ball and coached at the college doesn't mean they can be a successful coach at the high school ranks. However, seems to me that someone with that much experience would have a great deal of knowledge for the game. And honestly I would venture to guess that since Hilton is a ref and and an ump that he has decent people/communication skills to go along with his knowledge of the game. Both knowledge of the game and good communication skills are key ingredients to the start of being successful. Anyway, what's it matter if Jones has more head coaching experience or not than Hilton (or Fowler for that matter). Look at the guy that coached Owen last year. If I'm not mistaking he didn't have any prior head coaching experience (unless it was Youth League) and Owen still hired him.
  14. Hilton played in 2 state title games, college ball for 4 years as a QB, an academic all american, and was on a coaching staff at the college level for 3 years. I would have to agree with you Bengal 15.....he seems well qualified. With that on his resume it states that 1) he's been in the big games, 2) knows what it takes to get to the next level, 3) knows what it takes to coach at the next level, and 4) is a very smart man (both on and off the field).
  15. Excellent "Code of Ethics". I think I have heard this someone where before though
  16. An uplift is what that program needs. And as long as he knows the game and cares for the kids, he should do better than the coach they had last year from what I've read and the games I saw.
  17. Where in Lexington is Hilton from (as in school cause I'm not sure where or if he even coached in Lexington last year)?
  18. What position did this young man play in High School and where is he projected to play at the college level?
  19. Excellent point! I did not take this into concideration when making the statement that I did earlier about the stats and the coach. Haha according to what I have heard and prior posts though this coach from last year didn't even have time to watch film on the upcoming opponent much less film on the years past!
  20. This kid ended up with like 8 INTs I think. Whether or not thats a school record is a totally different story. And if the coach doesn't know if it's a record or not then who would?
  21. Congrats to this young man. Hope he sees some success at the next level and gets a taste of what winning is like.
  22. It's sad to hear that a program gets to the point where Owen is at now. It's good to hear the assistants of the past year stepped up to have spring ball. At least there are a few out there looking out for the kids that love the sport of football.
  23. If it is indeed true that Owen Co. did not hire a coach before spring practice, that is SAD! It sounds to me the administration should be thankful to the assistants that stepped up and held spring practice. I hope for the kids sake that they get a quality head coach in there soon. Im sure Owen Co. is not one of the worst positions in the state. If their youth teams are that great it seems to me the next coach has something nice to look forward too.
  24. Congrats to these two young men............welcome to the fighting tiger family!
