  1. I heard that Carroll has a key lineman out and that Rose isn't 100%. If there is any truth to this then CAL has the advantage and they take the win by 13. If not, Carroll has my nod taking the game by 7.
  2. I have seen Owen play more than Desales and I agree Owen SHOULD have won every game so far this year. However, due to some injuries and such they haven't been able to get over the "hump" so to speak and get on track. I saw the game against Grant. It was a great game and Owen had their oppurtunities after forcing several turnovers but never capitalized. Desales runs a power running attack from what I saw when they played B.E. with little throwing. Much like Owen. This will be a game that is goin to be determined by the O-line and linebackers. The team with the most drive on O-line and best LB play should win this ball game.
  3. That a call a head coach has to make (going varsity O vs. varsity D). Maybe Owen's head coach doesn't want that to take place or want to take a chance on one of his varsity starters getting hurt.
  4. Not really sure if you can say that they are struggling or not. I haven't really seen them play much just against Bullett East and honestly I didn't think B.E. was all that great. Owen is struggling though. These teams have a combined record of 1-6........I don't think either are exactly happy with their records.
  5. These two teams are struggling. Any thoughts on this one?
  6. Grant didn't have the showing they thought they would in this one. Owen forced 5 turnovers I believe (3 ints, 2 fumbles) and made defensive stands when needed. This was a great game to watch!
  7. Against Henry Co., Owen Co. had several people get injured or hurt. Does anyone know if these players will be able to play tonight, and if not who will replace them?
  8. I'll have to go with Lincoln Co. here. Coach French will have his boys ready to play.
  9. Any chances that Cox and some of the other in shape athletes may actually play both ways this week?
  10. Gallatin put 29 pts in the 2nd half when Owen's D was dead from being on the field all the time since their offense kept going 3 and out. Same for the Henry game. Once again, that plays into the whole conditioning issue. You got have to give credit to Gallatin for seeing the fatigue factor and many other things and exploiting them.
  11. I will have to go with Trimble on this one. Gallatin is a good team with some talent but I don't see them stopping Bird. And even if they do stop Bird Trimble proved that they have other weapons in their game against Henry.
  12. EXCELLENT point!!! It's hard to throw an accuracte pass when you are scrambling around ALL the time. The poor kid didn't even have time to take a 3 step drop in the games that I have seen. Also, their style of offense is predictable. Like you said though, the talent, it is there.
  13. That does pose a good question about Cox. Does he really know any other positions other than QB? What position did he play in the JV game and how'd he look? Also, if the Pruitt kid plays offense and offense only who will fill in that spot on the defensive side of the ball?
  14. The touchdown which I was referring to was good execution by Owen's D but great execution by Henry's O. You have to give credit where it's due and on that play Henry had a great pass and catch with an Owen defender right there. Great play all around. As for Owen being good late in the season IF they get some conditioning......that is a rather large IF and honestly at this point in the season conditioning should have been taken care of before now. If it hasn't happen yet then I don't see it happening at all. Such a shame cause I honestly believe Owen does have some good talent.
  15. I think I was watching the same game as you. The stalled drive inside the 5....seems like to me thats called a defensive stand. On the balls that "just missed their target" I think they might have been tipped......not real sure on that one. However, I do agree. Owen definitely was out of shape.
  16. Pruitt........isn't he #7?? He played a little QB last week at Henry I do believe. Didn't do a bad job and moved the ball down the field well but it was just too late for Owen. What about the QB from Grant? He seems to be pretty mobile and agile.
  17. You could be exactly right 80region. Without the ability to put points on the board Owen doesn't stand a chance against anybody. Their defense could hold people to 21 pts or less every game but as long as the offense struggles the defense's efforts are in vain.
  18. No way should the score have been 50-0. Owen's defense played well once again. The only reason Henry scored their first TD was due to Owen's defended not turning to look at the pass in the air. I mean the defender was right in the receivers ear hole and the receiver made a great catch. Story of the game wasn't that Henry had penalties........it was that once again Owen County's defense came to play and their offense didn't.
  19. Both teams are coming off disappointing loses. Owen needs to get their offense on track and be able to put some points on the board while stopping Henry's air attack. Henry needs to be able to control the line and stop the run and keep Owen from picking off too many passes. This should be a good game.
  20. No one ever said that Gallatin wasn't tired. They may have been but they didnt show it as much as Owen did. Plain and simple Gallatin was in better shape/condition than Owen and it showed. Yeah adjustments played part in this game but not to the degree that overall conditioning did. Good job to Gallatin's coaching staff for having their boys in shape.
  21. OC was definitely fatigued and that equalled out to Gallatins scoring plays.
  22. I agree with you there was some arm tackling goin on, but from what I watched of the game it seemed that took place once the defense got tired from being out there so much after OC's offense kept going 3 and out.
  23. Totally agree with you 20ROOK. Even if its 3 points you gotta put points on the board. #1 has 5 picks in 2 games? Not bad numbers. If he keeps that up and teams keep throwing his way it could mean big things for him. It sounds and looked friday night like he was an athlete (#1 that is). OC should utilize him on more than just defense it seems but no more than they throw the ball, or attempt to throw it, why would you want to put that talent at WR when they can even get a pass off?
  24. Good to hear that it isn't anything serious with the Cox kid. I agree 20 ROOK the kid needs some protection back there. Who is #1 for OC? He played a pretty good game desfensively with 2 picks. And OlBallCoach, what do you mean by OC is no where near the same team with the new coaching staff?
  25. This was a battle in the first half for sure. Both teams going back and forth......couldn't have asked for a better football war. Second half=different story. Owen County's offense couldn't get anything going and ultimately seemed as if they gave up. Their defense played their hearts out but tired out half way through the 3rd. But they didnt give up defensively (at least compared to the offense it seemed). Hats off to Gallatin Co. They pick up a good win. As for #5, may the good Lord be with him and hopefully nothing is seriously wrong.
