Referee Ratings
Some of them may very well be, but that doesn't mean they all are. Like I said if you see a penalty, I'm not saying make a penalty up. But I've had a few thrown in my area that I missed and I've thrown some in others areas I've seen. But as already been stated on this by VOR the film should make it obvious what you called when you do that.

You are suppose to watch your zone first and foremost, but if you see something in another officials zone it's better to call it than to let it go uncalled.

Don't bash those that do it until you've tried it. It's not as easy as it looks. I've not fooled with basketball but I've done baseball and football for years. I do believe most officials mess up every game, but I also think most officials try and do the best they can and aren't trying to cheat kids. In football too you have 5 pairs of eyes to watch 22 players on the field, you can't see everything.

Class 1A Rankings 9-28
I would honestly rather see region rankings than just a straight up top 10, or maybe even rank the top 10 on each side of the classes bracket. The playoffs are ultimately where every team will be judged, deciding where teams stack up against the teams that they will definitely play in the postseason would be very valuable. Maybe even just a top 3 or 4 from each region. I will admit that would be a lot of work and very subjective, but could be fun.

McCreary Central 2011
I know with previous coaches they had trouble getting the players to show up for practice. No clue if that is the case now, but one McCreary coach told me multiple times they had to start players that would miss one or two practices a week, because if they didn't play them they wouldn't have enough. That has been several years ago though, same coach said that in weight training when he got on to kids for skipping a parent complained to the administration and he was told to leave the kids alone if they didn't want to come lift weights. This is not me trying to be negative about McCreary or their current coaches, I really hope they do well, but I know these are problems they've encountered in the past.

McCreary Central 2011
I don't really know a lot as far as being on the inside with McCreary's program, but I've heard in the past coaches have fought hard to keep kids in the weight room in the spring and parents/administration don't back the coaches on this. Numbers would help dramatically long term. The more you can get out at an earlier age the better. McCreary always has the numbers of a 1a or small 2a school not the 3a or 4a school they've been.

I'm just poor. However, I prefer optimism and hope for the kids. Especially before the season even starts.

Whitley County 33 Clay County 32
I think he was number 44.

Whitley County 33 Clay County 32
On a side note Boston Brian, I think that is his name, was an incredible back for Whitley he and the kicker are incredible weapons to have.

Whitley County 33 Clay County 32
I have no interest in either team not a clay county fan, just went with a friend and that is how I saw it. Also the touchback on the fumble was a terrible call, the ball was down and the reviever just tried to reach it forward when it was knocked out. Bottom line though I don't have a bone in the fight but down the stretch a lot of calls and they all went against clay. They called clay for celebration to go up with roughly 1:45 left Whitley scores with 3 seconds left to go up refs finally flag it then waive it off, that was more questionable than anything to me, I can see how the fumble through the endzone was missed, but to waive that off after calling same thing on clay wasn't right in my opinion.

Whitley County 33 Clay County 32
I was at this game, the officials called over 60 yards of penalties against clay county in final 2 minutes to give Whitley the win. They flagge Whitley for celebration after the field goal, a call they made on clay 2 minutes before, but then waived it off like it never happened.

How many games must a team play to be eligible for the post season?
Does KHSAA have any requirements for making the playoffs besides finishing in the top four of your district?

McCreary Central at North Laurel who wins and why
Several years ago I watched a couple of McCreary elementary/middle school games and they appeared to have a lot of involved coaches that just lacked knowledge. I would guess in the game I watched 50% of the plays were snapped to the quarterback who ran straight behind the center upfield, it worked due to the pure size of the center. However, long term I don't think the kids learned a lot of the fundamentals to carry them forward. McCreary did win that game, but once other teams catch up to them in size and their skills are superior McCreary is at a disadvantage. With that said though, through word of mouth I know McCreary has some people involved with the younger kids that can guide and show the other middle school and elementary coaches things to work on and help them learn the fundamentals necessary at an early age, long term I think that will help them tremendously.

"(Trinity) it's a KY school."
I'm all for supporting txhe home boys, but as long as public and private are classed together a faction of public school fans will root against the big private schools. They will still love the state but the debate burns them deep, as can be seen on here from time to time. Granted this game involves two private schools, but a faction against KY private schools is a vocal minority.

If everything falls right can Trinity...
Ya I worded that in a confusing way, I do think Trinity could play with them, just beating them would take a lot.
-
If everything falls right can Trinity...
I would sure like to see it. I doubt they would, Mississippi high school ball is on a much different level than what Kentucky and Ohio plays. I don't doubt Trinity could play with them, but they would have a hard time beating them. Rivals also has South Panola rated ahead of Trinity in the preseason.
-
If everything falls right can Trinity...
It may be a joke but when I was working in Batesville last year and South Panola won it in almost every major publication, the people sure didn't seem to care. That said though I'd like to see trinity or x play s. Panola.

McCreary Central 2011
I see 8 as a winnable number, but I don't believe they will go week in and week out with one slip up, a lot of really good teams have weeks where they leave their A and even B game at home, for McCreary they can't winn all the winnable games without their A game week in and week out, I just believe once or twice they will slip up.

McCreary Central 2011
No game is a guarantee for McCreary, but they should be competitive in Taylor Co, Pineville, Knott County, North Laurel, Leslie, Casey, Wayne, and Jackson County. They could easily be 4-6 or 3-7 as they could 6-4 or 7-3, but this time of year I prefer optimism for people . If you go in thinking you can't win, you won't. Good thing for them is they at least have a shot in 8 of the games, so the goal has to be win more of those 8 than you don't, and I feel they have a shot to do that.

McCreary Central 2011
I'll say 6-4 or 7-3. McCreary plays a lot of road games this season. With Pineville, Knott, and North Laurel all on the road in back to back weeks a slip up one of those weeks would not surprise me. They should go 3-1 in their home games. However, they catch Wayne County in a rough week after back to back road games at Casey County and then at Corbin. Wayne and Casey will make or break their season, district games are all that really matter anyways. The goal is to get to the playoffs and then win some games in the playoffs, everything else is just for fun. That said though 6-4 or 7-3 are very possible if they stay focused and don't get hit with the injury bug.

McCreary Central 2011
McCreary should start having some things to build on. I've learned Aaron Anderson is helping with some of the younger grades now, that should help them learn some valuable fundamentals from someone with a lot of experience at an earlier age. That can only pay off in the long haul.

Has anyone cut the cable and gone to streaming tv?
We haven't yet but probably will due to our current financial situation. One thing if your internet provider cooperates for ESPN 3 you can get all the sports you want on your computer.
