As we enter into this election season there has been a lot of talk and discussion about the qualifications and experience of the challengers from the Republican ticket. I just wanted to start an dialogue about the Presidents accomplishments over the last 3 years. Documented accomplishments not opinions...please keep this thread fact based and not opinion based.

Many people probably don't consider it a success, but the fact is Obamacare is the fulfillment of one of the main promises Obama made in his campaign. Healthcare reform was one of the main reasons why the people who voted for Obama did so and he did as promised. The other one that comes to mind is getting the troops out of Iraq. Those are two of the cornerstone promises that Obama fulfilled. One that was a promise that he did not fulfill is the closing of Guantanamo Bay.

I believe there is a website called political fact check or something like that which tracks promises by politicians and whether they fulfilled them.

Healthcare reform

Bringing home the troops from Iraq

Killing Osama bin Ladin

Repealed Don't Ask Don't Tell

Illegal immigration is down

Deportations of illegals is up, largely by focusing on illegals who commit crimes.

One closer to home...allowed states to submit their own education improvement plans and apply to be exempt from NLCB. (Kentucky was successful)

The thing about answering the question as posed, is that what I think are documented successes, others will not.

You are right some are subjective and some are right or wrong depending on your personal political preferences.

Bailed out the auto industry and saved hundreds of thousands of jobs in the auto industry.

Yes did bail out GM and Chrysler, (Ford refused money) but Taxpayers may never get their money back. But jobs and two companies were saved for around a combined $60 Billion.

Most of the 60 billion has already been repaid. The relatively small amount that it will cost is much more than offset by the txes paid by the companies, the workers anf the unemployment and other benefits that didn't need to be paid.
