February 28, 201214 yr Maybe 80% is a little high. It being WWW's decision was definitely in my line of thought. WWW is why he is at UK.
February 28, 201214 yr I guess I'm just an optimist because I skipped "yea right", pretended like WWW doesn't even exist and went straight to "hell yeah!!"
February 28, 201214 yr This is why he won't be back... Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's Kentucky plans are real puzzler | The Courier-Journal | courier-journal.com “If Michael is the one pick in the draft, yes, I would wrestle him to the floor and say, ‘What are you thinking?’ ” Calipari said. “He’s got to come up with some reasons he’s coming back and convince me. Here’s why: What if he got hurt and I’m out there convincing him to come back? What if that happened? Or something happened to him that all of the sudden really hurt him and his draft-ability and his future? “It’s hard to live with yourself, unless you’re just trying to win five more games or ‘How many games can I win before I retire?’ This is about these young people.”
February 28, 201214 yr Here's the first part of the quote that HT omitted... “I’ll be with him whatever he wants to do. Obviously, if he wants to stay, I’m going to be very happy,” Calipari said. “But in the same sense, it’s too early to tell what anyone is going to do right now. He says, ‘I want to get my degree from Kentucky,’ and I agree. I want him to also. Basketball-wise, he’s got to wait until the year is out and figure out where everything is. He is a young freshman. He’s very young.”
February 28, 201214 yr ^ I just didn't feel that was the most important part. It was the ONLY important part. The part you quoted was his response to a reporter asking what he'd do if MKG is projected as the #1 pick in the draft. Obviously, that's irrelevant as it's not going to happen. The part I put was when asked about his thoughts on MKG wanting to return.

That was all coach speak, he is going to tell him to go and that is obvious based off the part I quoted.
February 28, 201214 yr That was all coach speak, he is going to tell him to go and that is obvious based off the part I quoted. The part you quoted was in reference to being the #1 pick. I never said he wouldn't tell him to go. Just that the whole, "Cal's going to force him out" talk is untrue.

February 28, 201214 yr RT @MikeGillie14 I'm going to do what's ever best for me. Tag line for the next UK shirts they come out with...
February 28, 201214 yr A lot of this is just going to help make Calipari look good for potential recruits, as if he didn't already. Cal will say all the right things to the media, no matter what he really feels because he's the best recuriter in the business. At the end of the day, MKG is going to do what is best for him, which I feel is leave for the NBA. I do believe he will continue to take classes over the summer and online and will one day graduate from UK, but he will not be in a Wildcats uniform next year. And if he is...I will gladly eat crow everyday until he leaves!
February 29, 201214 yr Chad Ford today: "I have heard rumblings Drummond and Kidd-Gilchrist are stayng in school another year, what would the 2013 class look like then? Chad Ford Haven't heard that at all on Drummond. Given the sanctions UConn is facing, I think he's probably coming. I've been hearing the Kidd-Gilchrist stuff all year and last weekend he told reporters he was staying in school. Usually I'm very skeptical about this sort of thing. Players say all the time that they're staying and then declare. But in the case of Kidd-Gilchrist, I believe him. He's a different sort of kid. Had different priorities. Wants to be the best ... not just make the money. John Calipari may convince him to leave ... but I really do believe he wants to stay in college."
