Drawbridge faces foreclosure...again

Didn't realize the Deters family owned this. Isn't Charlie Deters 80 years old?

Charlie's brother owns Drawbridge and the restaurants in it. Charlie has a share in the business, but it's primarily owned by Richard Deters. However, Charlie owns the entire Snappy Tomato Pizza franchise (forreal), Ben-D Horse Farm, Farmer's National Bank, another bank in Florida, several Wendy's restaurants, numerous BP gas stations and Blue Pantry convenience stores, and a handful of other business interests. He sold the shares of his law firm about 4 years back as well. One of the only men I know who can walk out of his house and say that he owns everything he sees in every direction.

The railroad put us up there, I have stayed there many many times. Didn't care for it. We had to walk to find a place to eat and no place to run. They now stay closer to Cincinnati.
Sometimes we check in at 3 AM, snow/ice and walk next to a major road. Not safe at all, not a good situation when you stay at a place 3 times in a week.

I told my family who had traveled from Wisconsin last summer for my Mom's funeral service: Stay on 1-75 North and do not stop at any hotel from the Buttermilk Pike exit until you travel back into Ohio near Sharonville. My Aunt's son in law brought her to NKY after an 8 hour drive from WI. Pretty bad you have to tell this to your family.

Well, that is actually bad advice. Plenty of great places to stay in between those areas.

We were out last night with some friends. The conversation was about the USA and Drawbridge sites. Assuming they are going to be demolished, what would you like to see put in either of those sites?
Not sure I like the idea of the Drawbridge being demolished, would like to see someone else try to run it as a hotel/convention center. I would like to see the former Holiday Inn site (I refuse to us the sites last name, lol) with a nicer hotel chain if possible, but there are so many hotels in the area now it's a wonder that any of them can make a profit. I just don't want to see more strip shopping center crap, or ugly office space, would not enjoy the extra traffic! It would be nice if some how they could use that site as a park, I know it won't happen, but it would be nice.

I agree with you on both points. I am afraid that the city needs the tax money too much so something big will go there.

I also don't think a hotel/convention center would fly anymore. Too many nice places on the river, and nice hotels by the airport. Not much need for anything in between.

A park/community center would be so nice in one of those places.
