No offense to Louisville but Freedom Hall is not the place to have the state tournament. Awfully boring there.

 

The ambience of Rupp Arena and Lexington during the state tournament is unparalleled in the nation.

 

Keep the football state finals in Louisville and basketball in Lexington forever.

If the KHSAA wants to see attendance fall, let them move it to Freedom Hall again! I think that has been tried and it failed. Hope they keep it just like it is!!

Unless you want to get into your car and drive, there is no place to go around Freedom Hall, while at Rupp there are many places within walking distance to enjoy one self.

I would say nobody cares but how about the Girls Sweet 16 in Freedom Hall? I know go to the other Girls Board and post.

90% of high school kids dream of playing for UK. So why be playing in the state tourney at Freedom Hall and be dreaming of Rupp!

I prefer Rupp...playing there is awesome....winning there is awesome.....just a great atmosphere to be in for basketball.

Maybe a move to Louisville could be tried when UL builds their new arena.

I played in the state tournament in Freedom Hall before Rupp was ever built. I think for the players that it woudn't matter if the Sweet 16 was held outside , it's still the Sweet 16.

 

I'm not saying that it should be held anywhere over Rupp Arena, obviously the tournament has been more successful in Lexington, but my experience in Freedom Hall still holds those once in a lifetime memories. At that time it was the greatest thing that had ever happened to this young man, and to this day, it stills ranks pretty high.

I enjoy Rupp but not Lexington, the ill feelings for Louisville schools are so obvious and recently just too much for me, these are high school kids. The environment is great though. Aside from that I am just so happy to be back on 64 West as quick as possible after the games. One of my favorites was when the announcer during the Sweet 16 announced a Trinity player by saying he was from St. X!!! Amazing

Most basketball players in Kentucky grow up dreaming of playing at Rupp Arena. This is one of the best venues in basketball. Not to knock Freedom Hall but the tradition is deeper at RUPP. KEEP IT THERE.
