February 19, 201214 yr What planet do you live on where going undefeated in conference is underachieving? That is incomprehensibly absurd. Whatever. All I'm saying is that was a team they should have pounded, given Ole Miss' recent issues (if you recall the thread Clyde posted just a day ago). It was ugly because UK had an overwhelming talent advantage over the Rebs, yet struggled to put them away. Do you not believe me? Or is Ole Miss just that good to be able to bounce back from a 26-point home loss less than 48 hours prior to a team that has shown itself as mediocre -- a loss that featured major internal turmoil, including teammates exchanging words (and perhaps blows) -- and make some of the fans in Rupp's lower arena soil themselves for a while? Haven't heard a good answer on those questions ...

Haven't heard a good answer on those questions ... Ole Miss played well. Kentucky didn't. UK didn't come out with the defensive intensity we've seen the past few games. It happens. If it doesn't become a trend then I don't think it's an issue. It's obvious this team needs Davis in the game to be dominant. Getting him in foul trouble is the key to making them vulnerable. Regardless, it was a 15-point win that was never in doubt.
February 19, 201214 yr Is your contention that this type of outing doesn't happen to top teams? I could understand it against a better team. The Rebs are terrible other than one player.
February 19, 201214 yr I could understand it against a better team. That's not the question. Many of us fall into the "it happens" category and say as long as it's not a trend we'll live with it. You seem to think it's a harbinger. Not sure why.

Not sure why. Because anything, and I mean anything, has become a reason for Jim to bash UK. 12-0 conference record isn't enough. 18 straight wins isn't enough. Logic flew out the window a long time ago with his anti-UK bashing. Don't get me wrong, either, Jim. I am one UK fan you can consider level-headed. I detest the majority of the UK fan-base. Hatred of a fan-base does not warrant illogical and crabby complaints, however.
February 19, 201214 yr Good to see Mike Tomlin so happy, what a waste of a ticket for him. Put me in his seat and ESPN can put the camera on me anytime.
February 19, 201214 yr Leon Snerlen looked like he was sleeping when they panned the camera his way. What is his real name, I read that somewhere else.

Until today, when I found their performance against a terrible team to be very lackluster. My point is if they try to coast like that against good teams, they'll be bounced from the tournament by the first team with a decent big man who can get Davis in foul trouble. Then the calls for Calipari's head start, and the whole weird cycle starts over again.

You disappear when they're beating teams by 30 only to pop up at the tiniest semblance of a chance to add anything negative that you can conjure up.
February 19, 201214 yr Exactly. You disappear when they're beating teams by 30 only to pop up at the tiniest semblance of a chance to add anything negative that you can conjure up. If they're doing what they're supposed to do, given UK's ridiculous talent advantage over the rest of their sorry conference, why am I needed to add to the lovefest? There's plenty of fanboys to take care of that stuff. I'm not a UK fan. I'm the guy who points out things nobody else wants to talk about. Been doing it since '03. You must be new 'round here. In case you haven't noticed, I do it about my favorite team as well (who sucks), so it's not like I'm singularly focused on UK, despite what 18-percenters like mobaar want to believe.
February 19, 201214 yr They are ready for March Jim. This team needs new challenges. I honestly think they are getting bored. They want the tournament to start tomorrow so they can play with renewed energy and passion. 3 weeks. Lezz go! The YUM Center will be rockin baby.

They want the tournament to start tomorrow so they can play with renewed energy and passion. 3 weeks. Lezz go! The YUM Center will be rockin baby. They better have their game about them sooner than that. There's a reason why Wildcat fans flock upon the SEC tourney city with 5x more than can fit in the arena. It ain't to watch them coast past a terrible team like Ole Miss when they should be killing them. Or worse, lose, because they're focused on the following week. Even an ego as outsized as Calipari figured that out after he was "mildly" corrected for his dismissive remarks about the importance of making a good show at the SEC tourney.

Haven't heard a good answer on those questions ... Even though I know the main reason for these post is to get my fellow UK fans going, I am still going to respond. I agree that UK did not play that great of a game today, and if UK plays like it can then you are right they would have won by 30. However for me it's not a big deal because it was a game sandwhiched in between two bigger games, against a team that the players also knew was not that good. While Mississippi probably played harder for this game than any other game. So this game had all the makings of being a game like it was today. Mississippi held tough for while, but basically by early in the 2nd half the game was no longer in doubt. UK was up 20 or so points with 5 minutes to go, and if they would have stuck with the starters they probably could have gotten to the 30 point margin you wanted to see. However even on an off day for UK based on how they could play, they still won pretty easily once it got to the second half. So not much to complain about unless it starts happening on a constant basis. I honestly wouldn't mind a bad team pushing UK all game long, because I want this team to have a few more challenges with the game on the line in the final minutes before the Big Dance starts.
