February 21, 201214 yr I think a lot of teams have to worry about this. As an avid UK fan, I'm much more concerned about something very unique to this year's team, which is Anthony Davis getting in foul trouble. This team has looked its weakest when he's been saddled with foul problems. Equally concerning is something that has become a pattern for Calipari coached teams in the post-season: free throw & perimeter shooting. That's the other elephant in the room. If I'm a Kentucky fan, I'm not relishing any matchup against a team with a big man who's competent offensively. I especially would hope Sullenger and Co. are far on the other side of the bracket.
February 21, 201214 yr Sorry to move your post around, but I did it to make it easier to reply to both you and LRCW. The Auburn and Tennessee road games are two that immediately come to mind. If either of those teams were half-decent, UK would be sitting with three losses instead of one. Obviously, the Indiana game is another one. That's all fine and dandy. My point is, if Kentucky is going to hang No. 8, which I think they are the clear favorite to do, they are going to have to play better, especially since they've been flattered by a steady diet of terrible SEC teams lately. I don't think I would go as far as to say they are the clear favorite. I think Syracuse's zone would give Kentucky all kinds of fits. There are 3 or 4 other teams that would make me very nervous as well. I like UK's chances this year better than I have Cal's 1st two seasons, but I wouldn't be a bit shocked if the Cats fall short of #8 again.

A few things I'd say: 1. We all learned some things from the IU game, but in my mind, it's ancient history. It was early December with a very, very young team. 2. It's no coincidence that the two games you listed were road games. There's a good chance Kentucky will play in Nashville, Atlanta & New Orleans. Kentucky fans will dominate all three locations (assuming they're still playing). I really think this team turned a corner around the same time that LSU player took down Anthony Davis. I don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but they've been steamrolling teams since then.

I'm more concerned about the combination of Moultrie & Sidney tomorrow night than I am Jared Sullinger.

February 21, 201214 yr Unless Kentucky just completely falters down the stretch they will be playing in Louisville the 1st round. I'm going off of the dates here, but it looks like Louisville's bracket will ultimately wind up in either Boston (East) or Phoenix (West). Nashville will likely feed into either Atlanta (South) or St. Louis (Midwest). As a high seed, the selection committee will try to put them close to home for the Sweet 16 & Elite 8. Based on the dates, I think they'll likely play in Nashville & Atlanta.

February 21, 201214 yr Author The Auburn and Tennessee road games are two that immediately come to mind. If either of those teams were half-decent, UK would be sitting with three losses instead of one. If Indiana had missed one more shot, UK would be sitting with zero losses. Stupid argument. Starting with the Arkansas game, Kentucky has been a completely different team. And so what if they had 3 losses? They had 7 losses at this point last season. UConn lost 9 games last year. Winning Margins: Arkansas - 23 Bama - 6 UGA - 13 LSU - 24 UT - 25 USC - 34 UF - 20 Vandy - 6 Ole Miss - 15
