Jordan Nevels to Highlands?

The only way he will be eligible is if his family "lives" in Ft. Thomas. We all know that and I'm sure he knows that. However, what does "living" in Ft. Thomas mean? What would stop the family from establishing "residency" in a Ft. Thomas apartment Monday-Friday and go live in their Independence home after the game on Friday until Monday morning.

Look I don't care if the kid comes or not. If he does he will help a good Highlands team be better. If he doesn't he will help a mediocre SK team be ... well... mediocre. This move benefits one person and that person is Nevels more than it benefits anyone else or hurts anyone else.

Do you mean something like Ruby's Ft. Thomas apt and Andersen home?

LBS,

Your posts are beginning to become more and more entertaining. Unless you've talked to the youngest Nevels yourself and he told you that he was "going to win a ring" I aint buyin it.

As far as Dave smoozing the elder Nevels the other night, could it possibly have anything to do with the fact that they were simply shooting the breeze. I'm sure you prolly didn't know it but Nevels and a few of his teammates used to workout with Dave over the summer when they attended EKU.

Keep'em coming though I need a few more laughs.

Help me here, what's the difference of living in Ft. Thomas or paying tuition to transfer to go to HHS? Just wondering.

There is no difference for a kid like Ruby.

However, there is a world of difference for Nevels. If he pays tuition and doesn't switch his residency then he can't play sports for a year. If he sets up residence (with his family) he can play.

Thanks Oldbird.

If the Nevels move here, I guess their other son, Joesph, will have to commute to SK for a few months. Shouldn't be too bad to do. If Jordan comes to HHS and plays basketball, he will help an already small upperclass of basketball players. After this Senior class, there isn't many Juniors or Sophs on the team. But this comment is for another forum.

THE BOYS MISSING THE BOAT, HE SHOULD BE AT NCC.

It seems to me that some people are surprised that Jordan is leaving SK. I don't know why, it has been well known in Independence and the SK community that his family was not happy with the way some things are done at SK. This "rumor" has been spoken of since the fall during football season. The only part of this transfer I wish would have been handled differently is that he should have left before even beginning his freshman yr at SK - then none of these eligibility questions would have been discussed. There are 2 current players on Highland's football team who grew up in southern Kenton Co but their families moved to Ft. Thomas before their freshman yr and nothing was ever said about them.

I for one wish the Nevel's well - they are a fine family. I wish I would get to see Jordan play his jr & sr yrs but alas I will not go to any Highland's games.

Sorry blueblood - I don't post much, but this is like a circus now - and the boys who are left at SK do deserve better.

Like Lou Holtz said - "if you don't want to be part of the solution, then you are part of the problem."

I know you are just kidding but for the life of me why would anyone go out of their way to go to NCC for football?

I know you won't agree but NCC had one good class with 4 "players" in it. They were just a flash in the pan.

Why is X yelling in all caps? Why is Jason oops I mean the Guru off the subject of the thread?

Maybe he just lost his head, like Jason did last year...but that's another story.

According to to the Kenton County School Rules, since they had a snow day, the exams were delayed. Simon Kenton doesn't have school Monday or Tuesday. Tuesday for a Teachers Professional Development Day. So, from the info given to me, Jordan Nevels will not be allowed to transfer Monday the 27th.

Because the Semester will not end until Next FRIDAY. So the drama continues..................

Top 10 Reasons why the RU posted that noone should go out of their way to attend NCC

  • He doesn't want to admit that Coach Schneider has about 200 more wins than Coach Yeagle.
  • Jason was visiting his house and made the post on RU's computer while the RU wasn't looking.
  • Oldbird convinced him that Silver Grove and Brossart have better football programs and anyone who lives in Campbell Co and is not attending Highlands should go there.
  • Is embarrassed to admit that the current head coach of NCC has won more state titles than the current head coach of Beechwood.
  • Never did like Frank Jacobs.
  • He has been possessed by the spirit of BigRebel.
  • Knows that anyone who is any good and lives in NKY is already being recruited by Highlands. (Including his son.)
  • Has consumed a few adult beverages with Z5 and they're re-living their glory days as tigers.
  • He's tired of discussing a player who probably won't be eligible to play next year anyway.
  • He's trying to goad X into posting something he shouldn't so he can give him das boot!

I vote for #2. I think they like to sled ride together in the Guru's backyard and have a hot cocoa around the fire afterward.

I am sure there have probably been some athletes leave Highlands and gone to other schools but more often than not it is kids leaving their respective district and going to Highlands.

Derek Smith was from Silver Grove's district..really can't blame him for leaving...Draud was from Edgewood....

Oldbird mentioned Brad Carr, Brad went through the Covington School System his whole life and went to Highlands for a year or two then came back to Covington.

The only thing that is interesting is that the Nevels kid is telling others that he is going to Highlands to "win a ring".

As for contacts with Mueller, you do not have to speak to the head coach to make your interest known. The head coach doesn't have to communicate verbally to the kid himself, but he can do it through second and third parties.

Dave Guidugli, father of a few kids that have/are going through Highlands, was seen smoozing the Nevels during the SK/Highlands hoop game this past Monday.

I would find it hard to believe that Mueller had no inkling of Nevels interest in coming to Highlands, especially since this has been brewing since October and November...

I am not insinuating that Mueller has done anything wrong....

I doubt SK will have much beef with Nevels leaving other than they wished he would have stayed...even though it is being done primarily for athletic reasons.

this is getting comical.labs, obviously you are getting second and third handed info. if you KNEW jordan nevels you would know he would never say something like that. it is not his personality to boast or brag or talk out of turn. the nevels are some of the finest people i know, and i've known them probably 20 years. its time to let this thing play out and for people to stop the "he said or i heard stuff"
