10th Region POY

Featured Replies

Yes, just comfirmed that a few minutes ago. The 10th has a all region team and can be underclassment, but the POY goes to a Senior. This player is recognized at the state tourney and gets a automatic invitatioin to try out for the Ky all stars team.

So this really changes things. Who would everyones choice be now for POY knowing that is going to go only to a senior.

Personally, I don't like this rule; nor the Mr. Basketball being a senior rule. The Player of the Year is the Player of the Year, regardless of class.

I know Prewitt & Monroe are juniors. What about McGovney & Stenzel?

Stenzel a senior, McGovney is a Junior.

Seems like it would be between Fatkin, Stenzel and Ford. I would think Stenzel wins it.

All region choices: Prewitt, Monroe, McGovney, Stenzel and Fatkin.

I hope next years Mr. Basketball is not based on who has committed to play for UK. There will be some REALLY GOOD ballplayers in next years class. Just the ones I know are Hicks (Trinity), Willis (Bullitt East), Hawkins (Mad. Central), Prewitt (Mont. Co.), Monroe (Pendleton County), & McGovney (Campbell County)

Then Stenzel it is.

This looks about right.

I think most people would agree with this All-Region line-up.

Since the POY must go to a Senior (which I think they should be able to open it up to Juniors) - I think Stenzel would take this.

I think if Tyler Black plays a full season he is right there with Stenzel. Mason Co would have won at least 7+ games.

I think he surpasses Stenzel.

I agree with you on this. I think a full season with Black and the 10th region picture would be even more fuzzy than it is now.

Derek Willis is the best player in the class anyway, but his commitment to Kentucky will just secure the award.

Makes things a lot easier for this year. Next year, we can reopen the debate on the others.

Agree that I too think Stenzel wins it, with Fatkin coming in 2nd. Also like your all region choices, all very deserving too.

Agree.
