Walton 38 Newport Central Catholic 36 Final All A

Featured Replies

When they do it every level of sports when the tournament 'host' has made them up for both teams (ie Super Bowl, NCAA Championship, etc)...Not when a team has them made up on their own prior to the tournament and brings them with them.
The team had nothing to do with having shirts made up. Get over it.

Congratulations to both teams!

However, I find it a little tacky that Walton Verona immediately put on their 'State Champs' shirt out on the court. They also did this at the regional championship.

I think it's great! That's what they are, right? Congrats to both teams. Great way to represent Northern KY with these 2 teams as well as Brossart! :dancingpa

Congrats to the Lady Cats for winning the title and for putting on their T-shirts on the court. It would have been just as non-tacky for NCC to do the same.

At the State "A" finals I've been to, the tourney directors give the t-shirts to the winning team at the conclusion of the game?? The regionals are another story, but printing up shirts for WV in advance wasn't much of a stretch; either way, I've got no problem with this??

Congrats to both teams on a fine showing and to WV for bringing home the title to NKY!!

The shirts were not given by the tourney directors. It just comes across as a little disrespectful to your opponent and a little over-confident to have the shirts made up ahead of time. Congrats to the WV for the win they played a very good game.

At some point people have to quit using the disrespectful comment over everything that is questionable. Some people had some shirts made and the girls put them on! Get over it! THey took a chance by having them printed up in advance, looks great if you win, you feel like an idiot if you lose. NO disrespect in putting them on, they are kids having fun!!!

I in no way think that the girls were out of line by putting on the shirts. Of course they would put them on and apprectiate them. My feelings are for the adults in charge of distributing them. In my opinion it may have been more appropriate to distribute them at the post game celebration. That is all I have to say about that. I am officially over it.

Well said, Sutton.

For you and Pauly D.....the school nor the parents had anything to do with the championship shirts. WV has a parent that owns a sporting goods store. They support WV athletics of all ages, not just the varsity. I'm pretty sure they have printed shirts that have been either thrown in the garbage or else sold at the local flee market for pennies on the dollar. If NCC would have won and their girls put on shirts when the game was over......neither one of you would have said a word. As I said before.....get over it! If you cannot find anything positive to say after a team has won a state championship then move on to another thread.

:ohbrother: Sorry, but these were miserable attempts to congratulate the Lady Bearcat's. A little note of sportsmanship for you...Your shouldn't negatively accuse the winning team for celebrating their championship...it makes you look bitter.

Congratulations Lady Bearcats! You made this your year, and great job sticking with it today through some adversity and a very tough battle with NCC. You wear your All A State Champion shirts with pride...you've earned it.

Congratulations to NCC on their tournament run and their championship effort today...I know they didn't win, but they definitely played to win. They got nothing to hang their heads about.

And because I want to be a little smarty pants...I think I'll go work on a design to submit for Walton Verona's 8th region tournament championship t shirt. :ylsuper:

Well said, TripleSevens!

I wanted a T shirt but they didn't have any 3x's

We have always had championship T-Shirts made up for our guys prior to the playing of the championship game.

If we lose I take them with me on my annual spring Canada fishing trip and give them to the 1st Nation Indian kids who are happy to have them. We even make references on our broadcasts to the Indian kids rooting against us, when things are not going our way during a regional game.

We do however, wait until the net cutting ceremony to distribute them. In last year's 10th Region "A" Boys Regional tournament at NKU, both we (Brossart) and Deming had championship T-Shirts made up.
