Yeah, and they also included wins against those weak teams from Alabama. Auburn and Alabama.:lol:

Funny you mention that Bama is 35-2-1 all time vs. UK football...:D

My dad can beat up your dad. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Dr. Reid was right. You guys have a serious case of inferiority complex.

And I saw one of those wins in person.

One of those once in a lifetime things, hope you enjoyed it.

Too bad Bama is 1260 wins behind and falling back...

I thought this thread was closed...

That was an accident. Still not sure how it happened.

Quick have Bama schedule the Lexington YMCA!!!

I seriously don't understand why anyone cares. Both fans are extremely proud of their programs, and have every right to be. Why worry about what another program, in a totally different sport does. Maybe everyone should spend their energy talking about how bad their other program is.

Birmingham High School already on the schedule?

Birmingham High School already on the schedule?
Yep, maybe they can cross mid field...I'm trying to quit. :jump:
Well until the 1970's bowl games were considered "exhibition games" and not part of the season. That is why the AP and other polls voted on the champion before the bowls games and that covers all of the titles you questioned.

In fact, notre dame (another school with a lot of tradition) didn't even play in bowl games until the 70's (except for the 1925 rose bowl). Yet they claim championships before the 70's and are recognized by espn as well as sports fans.

7 are within that time frame...since they didn't compete in the post season should they have only 4 national championships instead of the 11 they claim?

I'm well aware of the systems in place through the years and the history behind them. However the Bowls often allowed the nation to see who truly had the best teams at the end of the year (Officially or not). Notre Dame did not play in a Bowl during that stretch until the 1969 season when they played Texas. The debate as to whether they can claim their titles before then is not relevant in my eyes because we don't know how they would have fared vs. other competition. Alabama did play in those bowls and revealed that against more National Competition, they sometimes weren't really the best team in the land.

What I would like to see is you break down the years that I broke down and give an argument WHY Alabama was really deserving of their #1 ranking that season based on the season results.

Depends. Can UK count the 2 Helms Foundation Titles and/or the AP seasons where they finished the regular season #1 but didn't win the tourney. Afterall, the regular season is what counts in football. If so, the Cats have a lot more than just 7.

They don't have to. I'm certain they can play the Tuscaloosa and Birmingham Athletic Clubs again. j/k
