Deep into the winter, no clear-cut favorite for Mr. Basketball has emerged. Nathan Dieudonne of No. 1 Trinity and Tamron Manning of No. 2 Scott County probably lead the conversation based on their steady performances and their teams' lofty rankings. Dieudonne has signed with Boston University. Manning is headed to Marshall. MeKale Moore of No. 7 Moore has raised his profile. Adam Wing of Rowan County, rated the state's fourth-best player in the pre-season, may have been eclipsed by senior teammate D.J. Townsend in star power. Max Clemons of No. 4 Pleasure Ridge Park is having a big senior year, too.

I'd vote for Tamron Manning if I had one. He came in as the favorite and has played to expectations so far, IMO.

 

It is good to see Dieudonne getting some shine also.

I would agree that Tamron Manning has probably lived up to expectations the most. The only thing I don't like is that it usually takes him close to 25 shots to get 25 points. I guess as I think of seniors I think of players that are preparing to be college ready. If you don't shoot a better percentage in college than he has this season he is going to have a tough time at Marshall. I think Dieudonne is a star amongst stars at Trinity. I did like the PG from Rowan better than Wing.

 

My vote still goes to Manning for his ability to take over a game at the end.

I have seen Rowan play 3 times this year, and each time D. J. Towsend out played Wing.

If Jay Johnson plays all year, would have been a very strong contender!

No doubt. Definitely top 3, likely front runner. I was more impressed with Jay this summer than Manning.

My vote would be for Dieudonne.

Good player, but in order for him to be considered I think Clark will have to win region and make a very strong showing at state.

Bopper is good, but IMO and I think that you will agre G Sunrise, DJ Townsend from a little further east on 64 would get the vote if a PG won at this point in the season. DJ may be the best true all around PG in the State, and certainly underated. He too would need the help of a good State Tournament appearance.

Both are underrated and very good. Both would need the help of a good state tourney appearance.

Bopper has zero chance, no matter how far GRC goes. He plays hard and certainly is an asset to GRC but shouldn't be in any Mr. Basketball discussion.

Have played against Clemons from PRP, Mekay from Moore, and Stenzel from

GRC. I would vote Clemons, Stenzel, and then Mekay. I have seen Trinity, but it is hard to get a good read on Diuedonne- they have so many good players that other teams cannot focus on just one, two, or even three of their players defensively. He is good, no doubt, but it is hard to tell how good! The same thing could be said about Clemons and Mekay- they both have great teams. I was really impressed with Stenzel! Maybe not what most people think of as the best player in the state, but he is a great point guard that really makes their team go.
