January 25, 201214 yr Anyone want to discuss the address last night? Am I the only one who watched it?
January 25, 201214 yr UK played at the same time, so I'm going to say yes, you are the only one that watched.
January 25, 201214 yr I watched some of it. It is the same old thing as always, wanting both side to work together, promises of good things to come, blah blah blah. Some stand up and clap, while others sit there in disgust, and watching the VP scratch his head all of the time. Maybe if we followed up with what is said and actually do some of the things, then the country wouldnt be in such bad shape.
January 25, 201214 yr What the SOTU should have been...."The economy is in the crapper, and Congress and I have no clue how to overcome our partisan antics to fix it." See that didn't waste 2 hours of anyone's life.
January 25, 201214 yr Yeah, UK played at the same time... so I watched ANYTHING BUT THAT. ... so the State of the Union seemed as good as anything else. I don't know what I thought of it and I was sort of in and out. He definitely set off his re-election campaign last night, saying the things an incumbent candidate says in that situation. "I am willing to work with anyone in this chamber in order to serve the American people..." Stuff like that.
January 25, 201214 yr Had other things going on. Then when I walked in the door the TV was turned onto the UK game. I completely forgot about the SOTU address till I flipped it on to Nightline. Oh well. Such is life. I will just have to read the paper, watch some highlights and get the gist from there. From what I have seen and read so far, nothing earth shattering. It seems it was themed for a campaign kickoff than anything else. My guess is Obama knows anything he proposes at this point is DOA in Congress so why waste time and energy on any initiatives.
January 25, 201214 yr Chunks of it were re-runs and re-re-runs. Stop at the 1:18 mark if you do not want the blatantly partisan ending. But Obama may want to hire some new speech writers. They seem to be re-using a lot of material. Oh, and didn't watch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDDRiGIUYQo&feature=player_embedded
January 25, 201214 yr I actually listened to most of it as I was on the way home form a basketball game. All I have to say is I hope Obama's shoulder gets better because he had to do some damage with all he patted himself on the back.
January 25, 201214 yr Didn't watch, though I usually do. UK Basketball > SOTU in the Parker household.
January 25, 201214 yr I didn't watch the SOTU address or the UK game. I did watch my Facebook timeline and no one converted from Dem to Rep or vice versa as a result and it looks the same on here so sounds like it was business as usual. I can dig it.

All I have to say is I hope Obama's shoulder gets better because he had to do some damage with all he patted himself on the back. Unless he started off with, "I can't tell you how great it feels to be the sitting president when bin Laden was captured, killed and dumped at sea....." then he didn't pat himself on the back enough. That is a post made in a jokingly manner. Please treat it as such.

January 25, 201214 yr Author Well, this is terribly disappointing for me. Oh well, I'll talk to myself about it.
January 25, 201214 yr Well, this is terribly disappointing for me. Oh well, I'll talk to myself about it. Give us your thoughts. Two things I liked from what I have read are the 30% minimum millionaires tax and using budget savings from the war reductions for infrastructure repair and deficit reduction.
