Big win for the Dogs!

That has to be a sweet win for the Bulldogs for several reasons. Congrats!

 

So how many people returned to the game? Any issues with the floor?

Holmes:

Rice 19, Knox 12, Coston 10, Palmer 10, Martin 9, Waller 4

 

Holy Cross:

Campbell 21, Thompson 13, McClendon 10, burger 5, Fortner 2, Fuller 2

Campbell with 21, 15, and 8.

 

Rice 19 and 8.

Martin 9 and 6

This seals up that the Dogs will be the number one seed in the districts.

Holmes will return to Rupp in March.

Holmes played about as well as they can for the 2nd and 3rd quarters. They probably shot 75%, but most of those were close pretty easy shots after breaking the press. Teams cannot run with Holmes for 32 minutes in the 9th. The Bulldogs defended extremely well and HC got very few easy shots or buckets. Depth really wasn't a factor, both team played 6 guys most of the game. One sequence in the 2nd quarter had 3 consecutive blocked shots as they went race horse fast up the court. Campbell played well but got most of his points on 3's, they couldn't get it to him on the block. Three straight times in the 3rd quarter Knox took a pass at the free throw line and went right to the hole for layups and Campbell missed the block. If he'd have stepped into his path and taken the charge it might have been different. He seemed to want no part of Knox or I guess he thought he could block them. He did have 5-6 blocked shots and did alter a few more, but Holmes went at him all night. All of Holmes players played very well Palmer and Colston really handled the pressure well. This puts Holmes in the driver's seat in the 35th. To beat CCH and HC in one week is pretty impressive. They are getting a lot better. Let's see if they continue to improve.

Maybe the 'dogs had something to do with that.

Knox played very well tonight. Sat out the entire second quarter because of foul trouble and responds with 10 points in the third quarter...all over Campbell.

 

This team is very good when they play with confidence and "swagg." It was on full display tonight.

^ I am sure there is a lot of truth in that. Holy Cross' two losses are to teams that have guards who can beat a press - Holmes and

Boone County.
