Dave Cantrell's 10th Region 1/9/12

Yes.

That's what I thought. Barring injury, that's going to make Montgomery a very tough out in the Regional Tournament.

I agree. Playing on thier home floor during the regions will give them a huge boost.

I am sure it is done the same way as the state wide rankings (current record, strength of schedule). This is probably a formulated item that limits previous head-to-head matchups.

You are more than likely right, but you have to be able to factor head to head into the equation somewhere. It's a tough argument to say a team is better than another when they lost to that team.

Agree. Home court is always an advantage.

I think that arguement can be made - Especially during basketball season. At this given point with strength of schedule, wins over ranked opponents, wins on the road vs wins at home(losses on the road vs losses at home) all take a great effect in the equation. Could a team be better than a team that beat them 6 weeks earlier? Yes. Could they be worse? Also yes.

Easiest way to see if the ranking are backed up by those that put GRC over Montgomery Co at this point of the season will be answered on Friday when the Indians play @ GRC.

Edit

Friday doesn't matter... the district final doesn't matter... it's that 4th meeting that counts and IMO Montgomery Co wins that one.

IMO, I Think Clark wins.:taz:

I would say that the district final does matter. You want to avoid playing a district winner in the 1st round of the Region.

I would disagree with you on this. I think all these game matter especially the District final to determine which bracket you are going into and how a possible regional path would go.

But if there is a 4th meeting, that one is the most important.

I sure agree on that one.

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. District is at Bourbon County and Region will be at Montgomery County. You will have to win one game at Bourbon to even talk about the region. If Bourbon gets Gillespie back in time for him to shake the rust off, they will be a team that could knock someone off on their home court. Does anyone know which games are seed games in the 40th? I know they only use 1 game since GRC does not play every team twice. Was the 12/9 game between GRC/Montgomery the seed game or will the game on Friday be the game?

Pretty sure the 12/9 game between GRC and Montgomery was the seed game.

Yes , so Montgomery will be the #1 seed, GRC 2, Bourbon 3 and Paris #4. I agree with you, district has to be played first. Mason Co fans had themselves in the finals of the region last year and look where it got them. One game at a time.

I believe the 12/9 was the seeding game. Don't think anyone is getting ahead of themselves - just expressing the importance of the games to be played. Once playoff starts, anything can happen. Including favorite getting sent to the house early.

This is incorrect. Both games are for seeding. However, GRC and Paris only play once because it was agreed at the district meeting in February of last year that that game would count as two. Therefore, Friday night with a win GRC and MC would be tied. I believe that the #1 seed would be settled by a coin flip.
