Not sarcastic. Pauly does a nice job on D. Plus CCH is great at trapping and help D. They don't stand around and watch another player go one-on-one.

 

Key to the game. If Holmes is quick enough to break the trap, they will be going one on one which will be to their advantage.

The length and explosiveness Rice has will present matchup problems for most players períod. Pauly is a nice player and sólid defnder no doubt.

 

How about a 2-3 zone? Cut off the lanes and make Palmer and Coston beat you from outside. Before i get into a track meet with Holmes, I might look at that option.

Holmes will likely roll out the following lineup:

 

6'0 Palmer

6'1 Coston

6'1 Simpson

6'2 Knox

6'5 Rice

 

Knox will likely defend the "5" while Rice will rotate between the 3 and 4. Going off that, how do you see the Colonels using their personell to match up with the Dogs. I haven't seen CCH yet this year so honestly don't know much about them other than by name with a few of the players.

With the combination of home court advantage plus Coach L. assisting Coach Booher on the bench, I think the Bulldogs will extend their streak over the Colonels.

 

Cov. Cath. has the horses to win this one, but this is the type of game that has fallen for Holmes over the past couple of years. Coach Ruthsatz has done a great job with the Colonels. Later in the year might be a different story. Two great programs playing a classic rivalry game. (Not quite Highlands vs. Cov. Cath. in football, but close.)

...and CCH won the game. Really good players are going to get theirs in most cases. CCH's D has done a nice job overall at limiting 2nd and 3rd scorers.

If this game doesn't put some fannies in the seats no game will. Tuesday at Holmes then Thursday Holmes at Holy Cross, does it get any better? 35th District is HOT!

I have seen a lot of these guys at the JV level over the past few years...hence knowing them by name. I simply meant that I haven't seen CCH as a TEAM yet this year.

 

Again... Rice v Pauly is a total mismatch. Rice v a lot of guys in this region is a mismatch. Nothing against Pauly. He ie a very good kid and solid ball player but big difference in talent and athleticism in these two.

They are tough, disciplined and welcoached (under the current coach) players. They are not out to put on a "show". Not a concern.

Some disagreed with Coach Listerman's x's & o's and coaching judgment near the end of his run at Cov. Cath. Many others (myself included) respected him as a great coach who sacrificed much to stay at CCH for many years. Coach Listerman has moved on. So should we.

It's all about match ups and how you play THAT NIGHT. Holmes beat Newport by 48 points. Does that mean they should be favored against other teams who beat them by less?
