You got stats to back that up. Again, I didn't say that the ACC was better off in the "BCS era" what I'm saying is that comparing BSC records is a top to top assessment and not a top to bottom assessment.

So is this. WVU has scored 149 points in BCS games. Over the last 8 years the ACC has scored 160. Time to face the reality that the ACC is awful as a football conference. I'm sure Pitt and Syracuse will give them a boost... :lol:

ACC always was a terrible football conference. And when FSU declined, they lost the only good thing they had going for them.

I'm with you as far as how bad the ACC has been. I guess that really didn't surprise me. I'm surprised by the Big East record, I think it is time for them to get some better "tie in" bowls.

Pitt and Cuse were both hoops moves orchestrated by ESPiN and Coach K behind the scenes to put the Big East on life support. The only football part was killing the conference so NBC/Comcast had nothing to invest in to anchor the new NBC Sports. That hasn't gone so well as the new Big East is still set to pull in a billion dollar plus deal with NBC here soon, and the football members are at worst equal to what is leaving. WVU drubbing Clemson was just added comedy to the entire mess...

A lot can happen when you have a month to prepare for a single game, WVU clearly made the most out of their time as they had everything running smooth last night. However, Clemson looked good as well right up until the strip fumble, things were down hill from there. Mentally I think Clemson was done after that, just never recovered. Until then they were marching the ball at will and their offense was clicking just as good if not better than WVU's. They were clearly not the same after that play, hats off to the Mountaineers though for putting them away.

 

Looks bad for Clemson, looks bad for the ACC but neither are as bad as it seems right now. People are dogging pretty hard and rightfully so, but top to bottom the ACC is still a much better conference than Big East. WVU underperformed all year but looked impressive last night, I'm sure the month to prepare had a lot to do with it. FSU was predicted by some as a national title contender this year, Georgia Tech is decent, VT will continue to be fairly solid, ACC will still be the ACC but not as horrendous as they are being made out to be. Far from the SEC but also far from Conference USA.

 

I agree the fumble return was the turning point, but my assessment was that Clemson--Players & Coaches flat quit after that play. Even starting the second half, where you'd expect a team down 29 to come out loose and hungry (It's a bowl game for goodness sakes); they were flat & unemotional. They called plays like they were either in a close game or up a TD or two, protecting a lead; and WV staff feasted on their weakness & predicability (Kinda like defending a Bengals "O" the last bunch of years before Gruden). I was embarrassed as a college football fan, and i'd be furious, especially with the coaching staff, if I was a Clemson supporter!! Can't remember a team quitting that obviously in quite a while??

Here's what I love. In '06 we played the SEC Champion Georgia in the Sugar Bowl that was played in Atlanta because of the Hurricane Katrina and the damage it done to the Superdome and it was the coming out party for one Pat White and Steve Slaton, and no one out side of WV gave us a chance to win. In '08 we played Big XII Champion Oklahoma and 87% of the ESPN Sportsnation predicted a blow out by Oklahoma, and it was the coming out party for one Noel Devine and WVU beat Oklahoma 48-28, then this year 78% of ESPN Sportsnation predicted a Clemson win and even ESPN's own Kirk Heirbstreit predicted a blowout by Clemson. It was a blow out but not my Clemson. Even this year folks forget that WVU put over 500 yards of total offense against LSU, and it was two plays in that game that made the difference. I'm not saying that WVU would have won, but the fumble return was a huge difference in the Clemson game. But WVU can play football, I wish we were going to the SEC, but I think we will do fine in the Big XII, just hope we are there next year.

And UT hired Clemson's def coordinator. Makes for a happy UK fan living in TN.

In defense to the UC/UF comments UC had just lost their head coach in dramatic fashion, not that it would have changed the outcome but it probably would have been a little better. As far as this game the fumble going into the endzone was the definite back breaker. But if I'm Dabo Sweeney i'm marking this game down and if I were to play WV again I would try to put up 100. Geno and starters passing still late in the game when it was clearly out of control. On a another not though the sports bar I work at turned it off every TV but one and decided to watch classic Knicks v. Rockets finals. Got to refresh my Olajuwan Ewing memories. Lol

I'm convinced the reason Dana left the starters in was not to send a message to Clemson but to the ACC for skipping WVU and selecting Pitt and Syracuse. I wish we would have hung a 100 on them.
