Six win teams to a bowl game?

Featured Replies

I have said all along and still say that a six win team does not deserve to go to a bowl game. I am starting this thread before the Ohio State/Fla. game. Becuse OSU is a favorite or mine as well as the SEC, and it being the best conference in college football does not change my mind.

There imo are too many bowl games, it is all about the money. I don't believe that mediocrity should be rewarded with a bowl game. A non winning season/team deserves it. I would be just fine without all of these meaningless "losing season" bowls.

btw-- two 6 win teams in a bowl as long standing as the Gator Bowl is wrong, jmo.

What say you?

I say its OK, and I love the game, it beats watching "Everybody Loves Raymond", but as its gets closer to the New Years the games get better, we just have to get thru the slop to get to the better games.

I would like to see a rule that says 6 wins AND a winning record are required. Let some of the smaller schools get in on the bowl $$$$.

If you're going to say that it might as well be 7 wins. Everyone plays 12 games.

Every year about a dozen of the guys pick all the games by the point spread. Winner takes all. Makes each game much more interestiing.

True. Go with 7 wins. Would there be enough teams with 7 wins to fill the bowls? Are there any 7 win teams not playing in a bowl? If not, then I guess scrap that idea.

I know WKU has 7 and is watching from home...

Maybe the rule is all teams with 7+ wins must be in a bowl game and then you fill in with the 6 win teams if there is still room.

Yep, UCLA is playing in a Bowl, thats just plain not fair. Will not watch a play of that game.

I can definitely roll with that rule. Just no way a team with a winning record should be passed over by a 6-6 team. Heck, after the 7 win teams fill up bowls, just cancel the ones that still have spots open. I'm fine with that too.

Me neither Larry. That is just disgusting. And they are playing a team who has lost 6 straight. Could they have put 2 more undeserving teams in this game? I think not.

7 wins (winning record) should be the yardstick.

Although a playoff would be preferable.

:D

That is the real answer, IMO.

Playoff? That's crazy talk! Why decide it on the field?? That wouldn't work! Just look at all the other college sports on every level!
