December 23, 201114 yr What would be the best, most durable, phone case for the IPHONE. I have looked at the Otterbox Defender and the Ballistic Shell Gel (SG) Series Case. These 2 seem to be the most durable. I am pretty hard on a phone. Does anyone have either of these and could provide some insight? Thanks
December 23, 201114 yr I've been using a Speck case since I got my phone almost two years ago. It's been dropped MANY times and still works as well as when I first got it. My only complaint is that the hole at the headphone jack is too small and so I have to take the case off the phone to hook up my car adapter cable. But in the end its a great case for protection.
December 23, 201114 yr Otterbox Defender Series. My first iPhone stayed in it and it has no physical defects whatsoever. My current iPhone 4S is in one now and will never come out of it. It is slimmer and not as bulky but still reliable. I never got insurance on my first iPhone. Just kept it in the Otterbox. Make sure it is the Defender Series. I am a mechanic. I am really hard on my phone also.
December 23, 201114 yr I have the otterbox defender for the iphone 3. I have dropped mine numerous times on the ground and once in that bowl in the bathroom and it has worked flawlessly. I just bought the iphone4 for my daughter for Christmas and purchased the otterbox for that as well. It seems to be much thinner and better looking than mine. Haven't had a chance to put it on yet though.
December 23, 201114 yr I had always heard you could drop an Otterbox Defender Series protected phone in the water and no water damage would take place if you could pull the phone out of the water in under 5 seconds.
December 23, 201114 yr The argument begins and ends with the Otterbox. I know people in the cell phone business and they will take their personal devices with the Otterbox case and throw it across the room to demonstrate it effectiveness. That's a fair endorsement IMO.
December 23, 201114 yr My Blackberry is in a Otterbox Defender. I have dropped it I dont know how many times, still working and not a scratch on my phone.
December 23, 201114 yr I have the otterbox defender on both mine and my wife's phone. They are great and wouldn't do without one. A good tip on buying one is to checkout Amazon.com. Target and Walmart sell them for around $40 to $50 and the phone stores sell them for $60 to $70 and I bought both of ours on Amazon for under $20 a piece. My wife's shows up in the box with an ATT price tag on it. $59.99.
December 24, 201114 yr Another Otterbox fan here. I've had mine in one since the day I bought the phone. Mine has been dropped numerous times, thrown across the table by my little one, and chewed in by our Dane the other day. The phone is still in perfect shape, and other than a few teeth marks on the case and a dimple in the plastic lens cover, the case is still solid.
December 24, 201114 yr I use the Otterbox and my iPhone 4 is still in great shape. The only problem I have with it is that the rubber casing got caught and tore partially. No biggie though.
December 24, 201114 yr Speck is the case I use. It's awesome. Love it. Best option unless you want to carry a brick in your pocket.
December 24, 201114 yr Otter box is the way to go. Just be careful not to keep any loose money(bills) in your front pocket that you carry the phone in. The rubber case will pull anything and everything out when you are retrieving your phone....Good luck!
December 24, 201114 yr The Otterbox does a great job of protecting your phone. But the Otterbox itself seems to be susceptible to damage. I tore multiple pieces and cracked the one on my 3GS. Already have a huge chunk out of the outer part of the one on my 4.
