Outside of a lackluster third quarter, Holmes controlled this game. Take away that third, and Holmes wins by 17.

 

St Henry isn't a bad team though. They play hard and have several players in Dedden and Meiman that can compete with anyone in this region.

Holmes isn't a dominating team and ain't blow too many teams out. Talent is there but they lack the consistency right now..tonights third quarter is a perfect example of this. Coach Booher will work this out as the season progtrsses. Anytime he called a timeout tonight, Holmes would come out and go on a nice run. That's a sign of good coaching.

St. Henry just outplayed Holmes in the second half. They went to the offensive glass, and got to the majority of loose balls in the second half. They got far too many easy baskets in their half court offense, especially in the second half.

Give them credit they hung in there and weathered the storm in the second quarter and came out ready after the half.

 

For Holmes, I thought Martin's three pointer with a few minutes left was a huge shot for Holmes.

Rice played well in spurts, but he disappears at times still.

Coston is a streaky shooter and I'm not quite sure I would anoint him has one of the best three point shooters in the region.

 

Holmes still struggles to score at times. The biggest thing they are missing is a real penetrator. Palmer does well in transition, but lacks real explosiveness to get to the basket. He will get better as he gets stronger, but his size is an issue in regards to finishing around the rim. Coston has the build for it, but not quite sure if he can handle the ball well enough to attack the basket from the perimeter.

When Holmes can get rebounds and outlet and go, they are fun to watch, but when the game slows down, they struggle in the halfcourt. In addition, there are times that they really labor on the glass, and that can allow teams to hang aroung.

Between these three teams its going to make for some awesome district play. Does this district seed or draw?

If the Cru is young, as posted earlier, then they have promise in the future. I really like the way they never gave up when it

looked like they were going to get blown out of the gym at halftime.

Don't forget the Cru has a nice JV squad, too. They led the Holmes JV almost the entire game tonight.

Wouldn't compare scores to judge how teams match up.

 

Holmes beat Newport by 48...St Henry beat Newport by 16, I think.

 

Using those two scores, Holmes should've won by a much larger margin tonight. This team will be fine. When they can play a game where they avoid a quarter like the third against St Henry tonight, they will be very tough to stick with.

Didn't see much of the jv game. If the Cru had a Frosh who played well, good for him. My point was that a strong jv team/season doesn't exactly mean a bright future. That goes for any team in the region...not singling out St Henry with the comment or anyone else.

Kunsten the St. Henry Frosh is the best I have seen thus far but I havent seen the Holmes boys and I hear Dixie has some nice frosh.

Entertaining game to watch. Good to see St. Henry fight back and not roll over and die. St. Henry did a very good job rebounding in this game which was a pleasant surprise. Thought Gripshover played his best game to date for the Crusaders. Play that killed St. Henry late was a baseline drive by Kuebbing that looked like an "and 1", but was called a charge. (Thought it was a block, but I'm a crusader fan. Kid was standing under the basket.) Good game St.Henry and congratulations to Holmes. see you next week

Looks like big man Zach Carr was pretty productive again....how did he handle the boards?

Thought Gripshover played his best game to date for the Crusaders.

Nobody else on the court wanted those rebounds more than Gripshover! Exciting game to watch. My first chance to catch the Bulldogs. They sure had some big crowd pleasing moments. Dontell Rice did not disappoint the fans with his dunks!

Carr did a good job on the boards. As a team, they rebounded better than they have in a long time. If Carr had a little mean streak and gets a little wider at the base he can be very good. Makes a good combination with Dedden in the post.

The Cru rebounded extremely well the 2nd half. They wanted the game more in the 2nd half. Holmes caused tons of turnovers the 1st half and that was the

difference IMO. Holmes is probably the most exciting and frustrating team to watch at the same time. You go "Wow" then the next minute, are they even playing? I agree with Walter, they are not going to crush many teams because of the lack of interest at times.
