"Tebowing" gets students suspended

Featured Replies

A simple one-day suspension for four student-athletes at Riverhead High School went viral on Thursday as news broke that the students — who administrators say were creating an unsafe environment by blocking the halls — were emulating one of the most talked-about athletes in America over the past two weeks: Tim Tebow.

In an act known as "Tebowing" — according to Tebowing.com, "to get down on a knee and start praying, even if everyone else around you is doing something completely different" — the foursome was part of a larger group
kneeling in the halls of the school. One of the students told Yahoo! it was "out of respect for Tebow, and because 'Tebowing' is the new thing to do."

It seems that the kids are missing the purpose of "Tebowing."

Tebowing is the new planking. Really not worth a suspension. That's a little extreme.

God knows your heart, go in to the closet and pray by yourself, do not pray in the streets to be seen by man.

^

I don't think they were praying. They are mocking Tebow and his physical form of praying on the sidelines.

Oh, OK thanks, nevermind on my post.

No problem. Roll Tide.:thumb:

If they were lined up blocking the hallway then they rank up there with slow drivers in the left lane.

Do want you want, just get out of the way.

Two questions...

1) Why were only four suspended? Looked like a lot more kids were Tebowing in the hallway than that.

2) Shouldn't a teacher/administrator just gave them a warning and if they continued they'd get in trouble? Seems pretty strict to me.

My friends and I went bowling two weeks ago and made the rule that any strike must be followed by a "Tebow" or they owed a dollar to the beer pot.

As far as the suspension, I find it completely uncalled for.

I think those four were the 'leaders' of the Tebowing exercise. I think they had up to 40 kids Tebowing with them. Still way too extreme to suspend them though.

Oh Clyde........

2011 was the year for the douchiest fad body movements. First Icing, then planking, then Tebowing. All 3 are stupid, think for yourself, kids.
