Wow. Quite the free throw discrepancy.

 

Covcath was forced to foul at the end of three of the four overtimes. That's where most of the free throws came from. This was a fairly refereed game, and just an outstanding high school basketball game.

Early indications are that CCH will often be on the short end of the FTs. They play very aggressive defensively which can lead to lots of FTAs as well as shooting a lot of 3s/jumpers which do not get you to the line.

 

Good point....Ruthsatz seems like a well built young man....I would imagine he takes it in the lane doesnt he? Good FT shooter?

Great FT shooter from what I've seen (although I haven't seen the last 2 games). His best move is to get the lane and shoot the jumper.

Wasn't implying anything negative. I know little about Pendleton's style of play this year & know absolutely nothing about Cov Cath. The 54 attempts is what opened my eyes most, not the 54-32 difference. 54 free throws is a ton of free throws at the high school level.

 

The difference between the two is significant, but the sheer amount is crazy.

Instant classic. Many chances for both teams to win. The 5th foul on Ruthsatz was extremely questionable. Pendleton player turned into Ruthsatz who was closing in on him. All I know is Ruthsatz is the one with blood running down his face after the contact. After that 4 free throws and the ball for Pendleton. Sorry that is how it was decided. We were not live, but the archive is out there.

CovCath was 25/32 from the Charity Line while PC was 40/54 CovCath had four players foul out (35 fouls on CovCath) while PC had only one (23 fouls on PC)!

 

The game was decided by the stripes in the 4th OT, with the "T" on the CovCath Coach and the stripes could have just as easily called a "T" on the PC coaches after some of the calls they were screaming at the stripes for too, but didn't.

 

Monore is an outstanding player and he scored 37 and 20 (20/22)of his 37 were from the charity line!

Almost half of PC's points from the línea is amazing. I hope Both teams have the day off.

Love it....I will always remember Doc...such a nice guy who would talk to you and joke around whenever you would inbound the ball. RIP Doc

Ruthsatz around 30, Hayden around 22, Pauly around 12. Need to rebound better. Both teams shot well from the line. Pendleton took 40 free throws and CovCath close to 30. Total fouls CovCath 35, Pendleton 23. CCH 3 guys foul out. Both teams 13/16 from the line the first half.

 

That's really pretty fair considering the venue.

Cov Cath Radio mentions need to rebound better. This is a small, somewhat scrawny team. A couple of guys will be liabilities on defense. They will struggle against teams that have size and have any semblance of an inside/out game. That said, they hit their 3's they win this one.

As for foul differential, only Ruthsatz driving or Haydon getting ball down low will get fouls. Most others are not able to take ball off the dribble in half court to draw fouls. This team will lose foul battle all year.

The CovCath JV defeated the Pendleton County JV Friday night at PC by a score of 51-35 behind the shooting of Nate Wichmann and Ben Heppler who scored 15 and 14 respectfully.
