Glad Nene is staying in Denver. That became my favorite team to follow after the 'Melo trade last year. I don't think they'll be as compelling to me this year, but I'll definitely watch them when they're on.

New Jersey made a larger offer. I believe their offer was 4yrs/$64M.

Somebody offered him 70 million but he took the 67 from Denver. I'll try to find it.

It was the Nets. They upped the offer to 70 million and he turned it down for Denver.

I'd say all those things coupled together make it pretty obvious why he's wanting to go there.

Playing with Deron Williams and an owner that will spend to win is compelling. Playing in NY and being able to make his own legacy could be a factor. Being the Man in Brooklyn could be a really cool thing.

Flexability. Bynum & Gasol with a bunch of role players will never get a championship there IMO. They would not have the flexability to add anyone in the future and they would be good enough that they'd never have a really good draft pick.

 

Lopez gives them flexability. He's proven to be a very good young big, he's still in his rookie deal and does not have the baggage that either Gasol (age) or Bynum (health) has. Only way I'd want Bynum and Gasol together in a trade is if I already had a very good wing player.
