I'm more confident in Ashland beating Fairvew now, but you two are going to have some funny looking wedding pictures if you don't quit making such statements. :scared: :scared:

I bet Lafayette wishes they still had him.

Antonio does not fit in at Lafayette or Scott Co's system. There are alot of good players on both of those teams and both of those coaches are not gonna let him shoot anytime he wants and besides he cannot score like that at both of those schools with the schedules that they play. He is a scorer and I do not care who you are playing that still is putting up some serious offense. Congrats! Also Antonios sister starts for the Scott Co's girls team. Gifted family as far as athleticism. I think Boyd is still second best in the 16th. For them to win the region they will have to get a couple of more kids involved.

If Huggins, Mayo, and Walker end up at Marshall I will tattoo I love OJ Mayo on my fiance's forehead.

I will even purchase the ink for ya on this one.....I am with you, there is not a chance this will happen. Huggins would probably be one of the only coaches that would let OJ and Bill run wild like they do now. I guess Huggins is using these 2 recruits as a way to land a job next year. They could cost him his job as quick as getting it for him too.

I wish OJ and Bill would have stayed in this area to play, I have really missed getting to see them play week after week. OJ is the best player that I have ever watched play and Bill is the most entertaining I have ever watched. Hopefully these guys will stay together in college.

I bet they both go to a prep school though, and just play other prep schools and get that shoe contract started early :thumb:

I agree 100%.

For any of you NKy fans, you can see Antonio Owens and his Boyd Co team play at Campbell County High School in the Christmas Tournament hosted by the Camels this week. Boyd Co plays Campbell Co Tues night at 7:45 pm at CCHS.

I agree 100%.

Nice of you to agree, but your team is part of that weak competition you are agreeing with. First of all, I dont believe that playing 16th Region teams is that weak of a schedule, moreless teams like the NC and Alabama team that Boyd just finished playing. I believe Boyd is inexperienced and have some players starting that hasnt started a HS game ever, but they are growing and learning, and I believe the schedule they have played so far is pretty strong for the amount of experience we have. These Lions will be right in the Sweet 16 mix if they keep on improving.

TomcatSalute, you get on whatever bandwagon you choose, but I am getting on the County/Owens bandwagon. :D

For all you guys that dont believe that the young man named Owens is the real deal....My only words is dont be a hater :thumb:

No disrespect to Owens. I have known Antonio for a very long time and I am sure more than any of you lions fans that are fortunate to see him play now. You take the best player off the best 6 teams in the 11th and everyone of them would probably be putting up numbers that he is. Since Mayo and Walker left he is the best athlete to play in the 16th region. Watching him play against Holmes summed it up. Good athletic teams will not let a player like Owens score like that because of the same type of player that has the quicknesss as well as the scoring power he has. I would love to see Owens in the Sweet 16 but as we all know the 16th is one and done unless they get a good draw. As far as schedules the Lions have played the toughest in the region so far. I am not a hater just a realist.

Congratulations to Antonio Owens and Boyd Co. - very impressive.

Keep up the good work and you could go far.

I understand your point, and realize you are not a hater, I just think you might be going a bit overboard on this one. You are correct to a point, but in some ways not. You take the best player off of every team in the 16th Region and they could probably start for an 11th Region team too. Now, I do believe your region is stronger, but not by a major margin. Dont compare Owens performance against Scott County as a judge for him against top competition, because he was very ill and double teamed all night. Owens just competed against top competition and performed quite well. I also seen one of Scott County's best players almost completely shut down by a boy that lived up the holler, and I dont believe we ought to judge that player by one game :D

I strongly disagree that any top player from a 11th Region team would score like Owens in the 16th Region. I do agree that player would be the best on BC's team, like Owens, but do not believe that you have 10 Antonio Owens in the 11th Region, Sorry

I agree,Owens did have a off night and he was ill.

Not taking anything away from holmes they have

A strong team,Bob Jones is just as strong, Owens

is getting better each day this kid works every

day on his game and with his team.I beleave

if they played again it would be a closer game.

That game made him and his team better.

Boyd County is only going to get better :thumb:

Outside of Holmes, who was definitely a top notch opponent, who else has Boyd County played that even has a winning record? I dont know anything about the north carolina or alabama team, other than lewis county and east carter gave them competitive games, just because they are from a long way away, doesnt make them top notch opponents, I havnt analyzed Boyd County's schedule, but Ashland by far has the toughest schedule in the 16th,

but outside of Holmes, I dont think Boyd County has played anyone that would be considered a good team by Lexington,Louisville standards, like maybe even in the Fern Creek class?

RedBlood if you would of read the post. He did not play Scott Co. Gifford, Mack, Jaren Thomas, Dunaway or Miller, Haddix or Walls all can score like that but they are playing on TEAMS . If you know basketball its the facts. Owens is very good player on an average team. There is no comparing the best players in the 11th to the 16th region. That is not fair to those kids. The point is talent across the board. Who in the 16th region can stop owens 1 on 1.
