I've learned to never underestimate Kasey, but Russell plays TEAM defense, I wouldnt want to have to rely on guarding Owens one on one, he takes over 40% of their shots, so you should be able to put about 40% of your defensive

effort towards stopping him, it it takes less than that, you should win

Not only is Owens the leading scorer for BC, but he is also the leading assist man. So if you use 40% of your defense to stop him, he will find the open man. Hopefully then the open man will do his job. :thumb: But I seriously doubt anyone in this region will be able to contain him. He is just flat out too athletic and better than the rest.

There is no comparing the best players in the 11th to the 16th region. That is not fair to those kids. The point is talent across the board.

 

Can you believe that the Little farm, country team from West Carter beat the big, massive, big city team from Bryan Station??? :eek:

Of course remember, West Carter was one of those weak teams you was referring to, that Owens competed against.

Outside of Holmes, who was definitely a top notch opponent, who else has Boyd County played that even has a winning record?

 

I stand corrected from what I said yesterday- the only team that Boyd has played that even has a losing record is ASHLAND. Everyone else has a winning record.

The only person is going to be himself. He shoots more than 40%. He scored 50 + and lost. Thats not saying much about the rest of the team....

Nice of you to agree, but your team is part of that weak competition you are agreeing with. First of all, I dont believe that playing 16th Region teams is that weak of a schedule, moreless teams like the NC and Alabama team that Boyd just finished playing. I believe Boyd is inexperienced and have some players starting that hasnt started a HS game ever, but they are growing and learning, and I believe the schedule they have played so far is pretty strong for the amount of experience we have. These Lions will be right in the Sweet 16 mix if they keep on improving.

Antonio chose to stay at Boyd Co and play for the Lions instead of going back to the situation he was in. You know all of this info and I don't see why you are trying to cause any trouble.

They know each other from AAU ball. Plus, OJ was in attendance at the BC-HHS scrimmage and liked what he saw out of Owens' play. So he approached him after the game to talk to him about their future plans for college and what each of them would like to see happen after high school is over. And OJ and Antonio keep in touch with each other on a weekly basis over the phone.

No, BC just lost to a better team. Boyd had 2 other players score 20 pts each, plus Antonios 53, they just flat out lost thru no ones fault. It was just a very well played game between 2 good teams.
