Outside of Holmes, who was definitely a top notch opponent, who else has Boyd County played that even has a winning record? I dont know anything about the north carolina or alabama team, other than lewis county and east carter gave them competitive games, just because they are from a long way away, doesnt make them top notch opponents, I havnt analyzed Boyd County's schedule, but Ashland by far has the toughest schedule in the 16th

 

If you dont know anything about the NC team or Alabama team, then how can you judge BC's schedule??

 

Outside of the 16th Region schedule, all of the teams Boyd has played has all had winning records. All of Ashland's competition also has had winning records, except Knox Central. Ashland has played some good competition, but Boyd has also. Boyd's two biggest games were Hoggard, NC, which knocked off #1 team in NC right before getting beat by Boyd. Bob Jones High School from Alabama was one of the better teams to ever play in Boyd County Middle School, they had some premier players, one of the top ranked Junior guards in the Country. So, I guess the schedules are comparable in more ways then thought of. Both have had very tough early season schedules. And keep in mind, one of Boyd's easiest games has been Ashland.

RedBlood if you would of read the post. He did not play Scott Co. Gifford, Mack, Jaren Thomas, Dunaway or Miller, Haddix or Walls all can score like that but they are playing on TEAMS . If you know basketball its the facts. Owens is very good player on an average team. There is no comparing the best players in the 11th to the 16th region. That is not fair to those kids. The point is talent across the board. Who in the 16th region can stop owens 1 on 1.

 

Speaking of fair to the kids, lets not really compare your big city teams to our rural area teams. And your comment to those players playing on TEAMS, that is pretty much a slap in the face to the other players at Boyd. I will tell you one thing, Boyd does revolve around Owens, but there are some GREAT YOUNG MEN, that consist of the rest of the BOYD COUNTY TEAM. These other players are great hustlers and really feed off of the energetic and athletic Owens.

 

In other words your are comparing your big fish in your big pond and I am comparing my big fish in my small pond.

 

Also kinda makes me remember back in the day when the big city Henry Clay traveled to Boyd County with a player named Sean Sutton and he got shut down and outscored by 20 points by a young farm boy from Boyd County named Junebug Rakes. But hey some of the city folks said John Pelphrey and Richie Farmers teams wouldnt go far either.

The big kid from Fairview is the Black kid, and Ashland is going to have a much better record with Miller than without him, but who cares? They are much more entertaining when they get beat now
