Out of curiosity for those who've said Romney, why not Huntsman?

Stance on Afghanistan. Electability.

Stance on Afghanistan. Electability.

Do you mean as far as winning the primary or the general election?

General. To independents and moderates, I believe that they would vote for Obama over Huntsman. I like Huntsman but he doesn't have that swagger or charisma to stand up to Obama. Perception is a lot. Especially to younger voters. I would love to see Huntsman stay in the race however, just so we can see more of his daughters.

^Know it All, I think it all depends. One would think, whether you're a Libertarian or Republican, that Romney would be more closely alligned with your views than President Obama, correct? If he's the one who realistically would have a chance to win, wouldn't it be in the best interest to vote him?

Obviously, Romney is more alligned with my views than Obama. During the primarys, I'm going to vote for who I like best, whether everyone tells me they are electable or not. Three weeks ago, I had plently of people tell me if Newt Gingrich was electable, they would vote for him...look where he is at now. So I stick to my guns, I agree with Paul, and I will vote for him even if he "realistically" doesn't stand a chance. I disagree with voting for who is electable, even if you don't support them the most.

No love for Rick "Texas Ranger" Perry?

When you're in Texas look behind you 'cause that's where Rick Perry is gonna be.

I am registered Independent. Of the field, Romney would be my choice at this point. But, I don't get to vote in the primaries unless an Independent steps up and runs...so, I'll have to wait till later next year to then consider the options.

If I were voting in the R primary (I am not, as a registered D), I'd be comfortable with Romney (first) and then Gingrich.

Newt is flavor of the month. The right wingers are searching desperately for some alternative to Romney. But every time they pull back the curtain on one of the candidates, there is some guy pulling levers instead of the great and powerful Wizard of Oz. Newt may have more warts than any of the other previous flavors so I don't think his popularity will last either.

I think pretty much all of his warts were exposed a while ago. Don't underestimate Newt.

You may be right on the popularity of Gingrich fading, but the man would be able to more than hold his own vs. Obama in a debate.

Mitt might be better for the General, but Newt will be better for ratings.

Honestly, I think America is too goofy to elect Mitt. They'll let his religion get in their way.

I agree with those who say don't pay attention to "electability". At one time, Barak Obama didn't seem "electable" over Hillary Clinton. He was labeled as "no experience", and "no knowledge of foreign policy". He had rumors of not being born in the US. Not to mention he had the middle name Hussein, in the wake of 9/11. If anyone was "unelectable" in comparison to Hillary Clinton, it was him. He did not have the most positive image and he had no "brand", but he got elected. Electability is bologna.
