Mason has it going right now.Where are all the O'hern bashers this year?

 

 

I was wondering the same thing about the bashers :lol: . Those that have been around the game of basketball long enough, know that Coach O'hearn is a great coach. The guy can flat out coach, knows the game, has been to the dance as player on the high school level, college level, and as a coach. He is a winner and that is all he has ever done. He knows how to take a team with not a lot of talent(years at Nicholas) and get everything out of those players and have success(All A 10th Region Winner and State Tournament appearance). He knows how to bold young players and develop and has these Royals playing hard. This will be a dangerous team as they continue to mature and get better come March. There is something to be said about a coach that has players that will do anything to win. Chris played for a legendary coach in Feldhaus and that guy could do the same thing with his players as what Chris is getting out of this young bunch he has.

For those talking about the rankings, to be fair, the current rankings are from 9 days ago and reflect only two weeks of basketball. I'd say Mason will be in the next edition.

Its actually been nice this year being the under dog and no pressure.Maybe we should leave be.

I know they'll be getting my vote next week in the AP Poll.

Mason again is going to be a force in the 10th region, they really started slow last season, but it seems to be a complete 180. You can make a case that Miller is the best player in the 10th as a sophomore.

I would go with Pendleton's Elliot, but the only problem I have with him is that he gets on his teammates too much.

I think Elliot is the best player as well, solid mid-range game for a kid 6'5-6'6, very nice touch, and he can get physical when needed. Watching them on multiple occasions last season however, I felt at times he didn't demand the ball enough....

Great game by Ty Proffitt, who had 12 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Cardinals back from as many as 11 down on three separate occasions. He hit 7-of-8 from the charity stripe inside the final four minutes and was really the only steady offensive threat for South Laurel.

 

Miller (14 pts, 6 rebs) and Turner (25 and 10) were both quite impressive, both on offense and defense, and posed big matchup problems for SL with their athleticism. This young team will be winning these type games later in the season and are a major threat to Pendleton's hopes of repeating in the 10th. Steve Wright said he could see any one of Pendleton, GRC or Mason making it to Rupp.

 

Great tournament, especially the serious upgrade in competition. This event is just a slightnotch below the KOB, Fifth-Third and LIT in terms of quality, and has a good chance to catch up with those events if they continue to have good organization of the event.

I agree. This was the strongest field in the tournament's history. Moving it to before Christmas opened the door for better competition. Very good tournament, hope all that participated enjoyed it.

Any team stats available? I would be interested in knowing the three point and free throw numbers for each team.
