I pull for the Cards. They have improved a lot and if they play a team from the ACC could give them a game. I'd love to see it. I'm just reporting what the experts on ESPN were saying, and they made some valid points. If Cincy goes its a real shame because of the loss of their QB.

What I am interested to see if where the 2nd place team from the Big East goes. You could go from fighting for the Orange Bowl bid to the Birmingham BBVA(?) Bowl against a team like WKU.

^ It's very troublesome. With Notre Dame likely taking a spot in the Champs Sports Bowl, that's the Big East's second-best bowl tie-in out of the picture. If UC takes care of business against UConn, I'm pulling for the Belk Bowl in Charlotte. But let's face facts, the best non-BCS matchups will probably be the Pinstripe Bowl in New York (Big East vs. Big XII) and the Belk Bowl in Charlotte (Big East vs. ACC) and if I'm in charge of those bowls, I want Rutgers and West Virginia, respectively, if only for geographic reasons of ticket sales. ^ Isn't there also a contingency where one of the bowls with an Army/Navy tie-in could select a Sun Belt school since neither of the independent academies is bowl-eligible this year?

 

The whole thing is still confusing. I thought I'd heard that since it looks like the C-USA champion is headed for a BCS bowl, then the Liberty Bowl is not obliged to take a C-USA team and can instead select a Big East team. That would be another bowl where Louisville-Vanderbilt is a possibility.

 

If there's the three-way-tie scenario and WVU goes to the Orange Bowl, then I don't have the slightest idea whether a group like the Belk Bowl would want Louisville or Cincinnati. And when Pittsburgh undoubtedly beats Syracuse this weekend, they'll be bowl eligible as well, leaving the Big East with at least five eligible teams and an increasingly limited number of spots to put them.

U of L is currently, leaps and bounds better. UK has been poorly coached this season, their QB play is worse. They have a tremendous lack of play makers. I'd be shocked if U of L didn't win a rematch, something like 31 - 7 ish.

 

Smith's play at QB was a big improvement over Newton's, your statement that the QB play was worse kind of invalidates your entire theory. The big difference between UK's play and UL's play from their game is the level of competition each has played, which has helped the confidence level of one and hurt the others, that is until the last two games. UK's defense has improved vastly since early in the year, which has been proven in their last two performances.

Western was tied with LSU once(7-7) during that game, but never led. LSU was ahead 14-7 at the half.

Then IMO you will be shocked. UL is not a good football team still, then winning some games in the Big East does not make them a good football team. I have seen them play and they still have not looked that good, but just happen to do better than their competition. As I said before if you put UL in the SEC, they would look horrible too and look like their program is going no where. While if UK was in the Big East, they would at least look better than they have and have more hope. The best team in the Big East this year from what I saw was UC before they lost their QB. Yet they still looked horrible again a bad SEC team in Tennessee.

 

If Louisville and UK played again, Louisville very well could win. I am not saying that they wouldn't. However it would be much closer than you think, and in a close game anything can happen. Not to mention UK's defense has played much better recently, and it's a rivalry game so even though this year they sucked they would be really up for the game. It would be more a long the lines of Louisville 17 UK 10 IMO. The conferences they are in make the programs seem further apart than what they really are.
