November 19, 201114 yr As we sit right now, Rutgers and Louisville are tied atop the Big East....how will it work if there is a 3-4 way tie for first? Highest BCS ranking?
November 19, 201114 yr Here's the procedure. The bottom line is that there's a miniconference created of the teams tied. If one team has the best record in the mini-conference, they go. If there is a tie in the mini-conference, the BCS rep is decided in order of ranking instead of resolving head-to-head between the two that are tied in the mini-conference.
November 19, 201114 yr These are the remaining Big East games: Week 13: Louisville (4-2) @ South Florida (1-4) Pittsburgh (3-2) @ West Virginia (3-2) Cincinnati (3-2) @ Syracuse (1-4) Rutgers (4-2) @ Connecticut (2-3) Week 14: West Virginia (3-2) @ South Florida (1-4) Connecticut (2-3) @ Cincinnati (3-2) Syracuse (1-4) @ Pittsburgh (3-2) If it goes to a four-way tie, Louisville cannot be the rep because of mini-conference ties not being broken head-to-head (or Louisville would have the inside track). Louisville needs WVU to beat Pitt and either UConn or Syracuse to beat Cincy.
November 20, 201114 yr I want Louisville to win this thing so bad it hurts me. And then I'll laugh so hard at their dumb system that it's going to hurt even more.
November 20, 201114 yr No way any of these teams deserves a BCS bowl game. Pretty sure you're correct. But, since at least one will be, I want it to be Louisville.
November 20, 201114 yr No way any of these teams deserves a BCS bowl game. Deserve? Since when has the BCS ever been about what any school deserves?
November 20, 201114 yr No way any of these teams deserves a BCS bowl game. Yes they do. Because they belong to a conference with and Auto-bid. By the way they are accepting applications for expansion.
November 20, 201114 yr No way any of these teams deserves a BCS bowl game. Don't say that, GT will get mad .
November 21, 201114 yr Yes they do. Because they belong to a conference with and Auto-bid. By the way they are accepting applications for expansion. I know the rule, and yes they will get in because of they affiliation. That doesn't change my opinion that none of them are deserving.
November 21, 201114 yr Isn't there a rule in the BCS that says they have to be in the top 16 or something of the BCS rankings to be guaranteed a spot? Or was that how it used to be and was changed?
November 21, 201114 yr Isn't there a rule in the BCS that says they have to be in the top 16 or something of the BCS rankings to be guaranteed a spot? Or was that how it used to be and was changed? No, there has never been such a rule for AQ conferences. I think you are confusing it with the following rule... The highest-ranked champion of a non-BCS conference will receive an automatic berth if: It is ranked in the top 12, or Ranked in the top 16 and higher than at least one BCS conference champion.
November 21, 201114 yr Thanks, yeah I had it confused with that rule. They need to amend the rule then....To put it in perspective, the best BEast team (UC when healthy, got waxed by the 10th best SEC team). It's a complete joke that any of these eight teams will be in a BCS bowl.
