Rowan County's Trumpet Player Is Legit

Featured Replies

If you were at the CCH/RC game last week you will remember the talented trumpet player I mentioned in the game thread. He really brought a lot to the game and got the RC crowd going.

Turns out he:

1. Is a Holmes grad

2. Professor of Music at Morehead

3. Played with legends in Las Vegas

4. Dad of QB Adam Wing

Here's a story about him and an interview from the game.

Well done, Mr. Wing.

He has been Rowan County's one man pep band for nearly all of the road games and a great person.

Agree, Saw him at the state tourney.

He is a great player , he played the national anthem when Rowan came to Boyd . Wonderful to see people with that kind of talent.

Did he play the trumpet at Rupp?

Yes, in their student section.

Careful or the Highlands fans will jump in to defend the greatness of their trumpter player and roll their eyes at the suggestion of a comparison. :D

I went to school with a Perry Wing, wonder if they're related? What year did Gary graduate from Holmes?

That's funny, right there! Actually, Highlands only has 2 or 3 trumpets this year, and both are underclassmen. And, I think I can say with confidence (former band goon myself), that there won't be any such posts defending the greatness of any members of the brass section.:walk:

And he got love on the CovCath Internet Radio broadcast which ranks up there with Pavarotti in Vegas.

Correct. I believe he is updating his LinkedIn profile as I type.

I believe they are brothers.

Now I know he has made the big time now that he has his own thread on BGP.

It's Perry's brother. Although Perry was a pretty darn good trumpet player in his own right.
