Sk may be in for a long season. Their offense is centered around 2 playeers. #24, their point guard sure doesn't like his left hand. Everytime he was forced left he would try to spin back right. Coaches will make them pay if that cann~ot be corrected.

 

It will be corrected when they get all there players back. Funny how people form such strong opinions over a scrimmage. I know coach Steiner was trying different players in different positions and combinations.

We should say thanks to SK and the Sorrell family for hosting this event. For those of that know the family and knew Kelsey it's very gratifying to see good basketball helping a great cause.

North Oldham has the big 6'7 kid Devin Rowan. David Levitch is likely the skinny shooter, he plays with The Ville AAU team. They are heavy favorites to win the 8th Region but Oldham Co will be good as well.

 

North has some very good players but IMO there is no heavy favorite to win the 8th region. Several contenders at this point.

Funny, I had this exact same conversation with someone tonight.

No clue. Heard WV played really well in the 2nd half. Not so much in the first half.

 

Walton lost the first half by 5 and won the second half by 4. McNeil did not score in the first half. Hargett played well.

SK really struggled in the 2nd half against SCD's trap. With that being said, it seemed like Chambers and Sampson were on the bench more in the 2nd half. Both hit more than a few treys. Which player from SCD is the D1 prospect? I'm assuming Johnson was the only player with a # on his back.

Johnson is the d1 kid. Very fast kid with a lot of potential he is knot a Jr. . Sk will be ok. Swanson is still out and when the season starts Sampson and Chambers will be in Most of the time. Ayers needs to shoot more to open the outside shot. He is very hesitant to shoot the short range jumper.

Was Johnson #51? He's very skilled but didn't show anything from the perimeter but really didn't need to do so.

How did the Fox kid look for Dixie?

For those who might be wondering: The scrimmages were played as real games but the score at the half was taken down and you started anew with the score at 0-0 to start the third quarter.

 

Greenup County #3 impressed me and their #1, if he learns not foul so often, will be a handful.

CovCath JV team won the two games they played on Saturday. I got to watch the CovCath JV vs. Simon Kenton JV game but didn't get to see who else they played, all I was told, is that they won the first game also.

 

If you didn't attend any of the games, try to next year, as there are some outstanding early HS basketball games being played and the cause is indeed a worthy one.

Keep in mind these are just scrimmages. Everybody played including JV players once their games on court two concluded. Some coaches coached like it was the final game of the Region and others sat back and talked with their assistant coaches during the games. Also the football players may or may not have been on the floor for their teams. Having said that it was a good sneak peak and quite an enjoyable day seeing all the guys playing hard.

 

Question:

 

Does Dixie have a big man to replace Pike, if so I did not see one? They pretty much shot from all angles from the perimeter, deadly shooters but hard to survive the ninth without some sort of inside game.

 

I did not see Holmes on the roster of games but their staff was there. I think they will be a force for sure.

 

I was surprised how good Walton was, Dixie started off lighting it up and WV got off the mat and made a true battle out of it. Very impressive.

 

Scott's coach has to the most intense guy I can recall watching. I think they too will be a force and appeared to have some really nice talent.

 

 

As for Coach Listerman in the Holmes shirt, I meant no disrespect and I know everyone knows I have been a big fan of his program for a long time. It just put the exclamation point on his departure for me. If anyone is bashing him I am unaware of that and as he walked through the SK gym every coach and assistant coach was quick to make a point to shake his hand and speak to him. I think his record of representing the Ninth and Statewide basketball speaks for itself.
