Not sure why guess they lost the password? the "Director of Basketball- Tom Foltz" no contact info though Commissioner nominated Tom Foltz to be Director of Basketball. Board approved the nomination and Tom Foltz will be Director of Basketball for 2011-2012 season.

Board approved the nomination and Tom Foltz will be Director of Basketball for 2011-2012 season. Yep. That stinks, but I guess you get what you pay for, and I believe NKMSAA is all volunteer ? Anyway, they do make sure the schools all get scheduled and (apparently) keep track of wins and losses as reported from the schools, and the tournaments will happen as planned with trophies and such. It is an improvement over few years ago when lot's of schools in NKY never played each other, no central organization. Just a shame they don't let someone handle the website. I think there are plenty of Basketball junkies who would do it - as a volunteer. Gray 7th grade girls had their 1st loss in 2 years of middle school ball on Tuesday in a close game vs Camp Ernst, then again on Thur vs Grant Co. Their point guard, and top scorer, suffered season ending injury early in the week. Gray 8th grade girls finished their regular season undefeated. I believe Ockerman boys 8th grade finished with no losses also.
February 10, 201214 yr I have asked the same questions. I believe the new person in charge is Thomas Foltz. That is who we send in our weekly standings to. I wish someone had the time to start a nice site and keep it updated. The coaches get a weekly update with records but not all teams give their records. I will see if I kept last weeks and try and post it. Feel free to post it anytime now...... lol

Will there be 2 of each district going to the regional as they did last year? I believe Conner boys win the 6th with only one loss. Woodland also has one loss but loss to Conner. So Conner would win the head to head. Summit View wins the boys with one loss. Grey also one loss but loss to SV so the head to head goes to SV. 8th grade boys go to Ockerman with one loss. Holmes also with one loss but loss the head to head with Ockerman. I could be missing someone but dont thinks so. Also the NKMSAA voted to let the schools who where breaking the rules and letting their kids play up on the high school level. To play in the tournament if they have 10 games played in league play, Total BS!! If you know the rules and break them you should have to suffer the penalty.

Rules regarding conference play will be consistent with those established by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) with the following clarifications and modification. 1. Game shall consist of four (4) six (6) minutes quarters. 2. Half time shall be not less than eight (8) minutes. 3. Overtime will consist of an additional three minute quarter. This will continue until a winner is declared. 4. All teams must provide a roster to the Director of Basketball one (1) week prior to the 1st game and must be signed by the member school athletic director, school principal, or head varsity coach. Roster must include: player’s name, height, and jersey number. Any changes must be immediately disseminate. No additions are allowed after December 21, 2009. 5. Games are to be played using regulation 6-minute quarters. Time between quarters is to be one (1) minute. Half time for all games is not to be less than eight (8) minutes. Half time may be extended due to half time performances of Dance Teams, Cheer Leading Squads, and 8th Grade Recognition Nights etc. It should be a policy of our league to provide visiting teams notice at least one hour prior to these events as a courtesy. At this time the explanation of how the half time will be set up and when team warm-ups will take place. 6. If multiple games are played on a day, time between games will be no less than eight (8) minutes between contests. 7. Any player that participates for any reason at the high school level in basketball is automatically ineligible for NKMSAA regular season league games as well as NKMSAA tournament. hmmmmm lets see the rule dosen't fit my team this year so lets hold a vote in the middle of the season.......
February 10, 201214 yr The questions should be is the for the "kids" or "win at all cost" I am sure it’s different for every situation but why have the rule in the first place, my assumption would be there has been a problem in the past... whether real or perceived the league felt strongly enough to put this rule in. just my $.02

While on the rules subject, should we have a vote to see if players who where dismissed from teams for grades should now be eligible? Hey whats the difference? Just kidding about that but it is crazy that they can break the rules and just vote on it at the end of the year. Whats the point of having rules if you can just vote to change them while the season is going on?

Rules are rules, plain and simple. NKMSAA doesn't follow KHSAA rules, they are suppose to follow NKMSAA rules. The rule is black and white with no gray area. It says you play at the high school level you can not play middle school basketball, period. But I guess if your school has enough pull, any rule can be bent and broken. If you need these kids to play up, great. Pull up another younger kid to fill that spot vacated by the kid playing up. But it is not about the kids, it is about winning. The 8th grade team doesn't want to suffer by losing their best players. I applaud Campbell County for doing it the correct way with McGoveny and Wilson. I doubt we will see them dressing in the tourney. Holmes has a bench full of kids that could have play freshman and JV. But Coach Englemon told me he knows the rules and didn't want to risk his players eligibility.
February 12, 201214 yr I agree with JC43. The rules need to be followed. Or--the committee meets and changes the rules, so in writing for all, BEFORE the season begins. If kids are pulled up, you fill in with the lower grades. At the same time, let's not ignore that the 8th graders that were pulled up were given a nice opportunity to improve their game and get noticed on that high school floor. In the future, I think that when these opportunities arise for talented 8th graders to move up---the player, the parents, and the coaches all need be involved in the decision. It needs to be clearly explained to all what the player will gain and what the player will give up.
