October 20, 201114 yr I bought a 10 in. sliding mitre form lowes that is a Kobalt. Absolutely love it. Have redone baseboards, built a deck, cutting composite railings and variuos 4x4s and Composite decking, neighbor used it for pergo floor. Was $200 at lowes and also has a laser which is really nice feature!
October 21, 201114 yr Slight change of plans. I think I am going to buy a table saw first. Stick with Delta/Hitachi/DeWalt, maybe add Bosch to the list.

Thanks! :thumb: After more research and thought I think I can get much more use out of a table saw and add the miter saw at a later time. I am looking to build some storage in the garage this winter and I wouldn't be able to rip down boards or cut anything really large with a miter saw.

October 22, 201114 yr A 12" sliding compound miter saw by Hitachi or DeWalt will be the last saw you or your son will ever have to buy...Yep, compound sliding radial arm saw. Worth it's price.
October 22, 201114 yr I've also never had a PorterCable that was anything but awesome. Have several of those and Makitas. Can't go wrong.
