A bonus for next year on here will be no "NLC champ reds" in the track the reds threads

I was secretly hoping they'd make it in. I loathe the Cardinals, but realistically, they don't have much of a chance against the Phillies IMO.

Whereas the only NL team I hate more than St. Louis is Atlanta, I can't imagine the collapse happening to a more deserving team. Plus it took some sting out of the Sox meltdown.

I wouldn't get to excited about backing into the wildcard like that. I feel a Philly sweep coming.

After the way they played each other during the season, I don't see a sweep. The Cardinals beat the Phillies 6 out of 9 games during the regular season. I believe the Phillies will be much better, but I believe this series is very competitive.

Yeah, that was kind of like boasting that you won your district in football. If you've never done it before, it's a big deal. But if you're a former champion, it's kind of "low rent".

Can we agree NOT to put any boasting in next year's Cardinals thread title?

You can say the Braves collapsed or you can say what you would like, but either way St Louis is in the playoffs and they had to play their butts off at the end to make it. And Red fans will whine for whatever reason, just as they do each year.

A lot of Reds fans do, but there was not much of an excuse for them to go backward as they did. Thinking about the season now, I believe that Cabrera was a big miss, even with his age. I also believe he had a big part to do with the team's success last season. Another thing that I hope they realize is that Volquez should not be one of the main pitchers in the rotation.

If anything, the Reds should use what the Cardinals did during this season as a valuable learning experience. Between everything St. Louis went through this season with all of their main players and to come back the way they did during this month is amazing. With being a Reds fan, I even give St. Louis major props with what they did.

Thanks hrcarrier. Classy Reds fan there. I will admit I hate to play you all, it seems you have our number at times over the last couple years.

Cards may not win but it was not a sweep

I guess if your a reds fan you can start to speculate about next year and try to pick who will win the central between Stl and the Brewers but lets keep this one on the Cards.

Hmmm ... the Brewers without Fielder versus the Cards without Pujols .... decisions, decisions ..... :D

Looks like they had a great chance to win.
