Some good hitting and physical football in this game last nite.

The kid gets up this morning and takes an ice bath, eats breakfast and then pulls off 50 push ups.

WIth each pushup he keeps repeating "Beat CovCath 1", Beat CovCath 2, Beat CovCath 3............................"

Not to get this thread off track, but I was also surprised at Dixie's JV numbers. With 11 kids on the field, it looked like they only had 13 or 14 on the sideline. Unless they held some Sophs back who had played varsity, it definitely seemed small for a 6A school.

 

The numbers are certainly a concern to me as well. Apparently, it doesnt bother most teams as they do put a decent product on the field each yr. Yes, it would be nice for everyone to have the numbers that some schools have but because of circumstances that most coaches face, they simply can't get the numbers out because so many kids must work and others have just chosen other paths of interest.

The ref threw the flag as the play was still happening not out of no where. The facemask was a good call and it happen before the fumble. How about Highlands whole team running onto the field after Dixie fails on their 2pt conversion. Should have been an unsportsman like penalty on Highlands with Dixie kicking off at the Highlands 45. Dixie onside kicks and recovers it with 3 timeouts and you could have had a different ending. A good game played by both teams and Yes the game was poorly Refereed.

 

I see your reasoning, but wouldn't the onside kick they tried from the Highlands 45 have been the same onside kick they tried from their own 40 which, according to the update thread, was recovered by HHS? You may be correct that a 15 yd. penalty was warranted, just not sure it mattered.

This was the worst reffed game I have seen in a long long time. Congrats to coach Spritzky on Dixie's first touchdown..Way to run out on the field and make the refs change their original call. It was a joke!! Seriously though the refs almost cost the Birds the game..It was really really bad!!

That is the only time you can be critical of the referees and not be branded a sore loser.

It was a great game by both teams - yes officiating is always suspect in any game - surprised nobody mentioned HHS 2 pt controversial conversion they received. I don't believe the QB got in....he was running to the right - barely kicked the the corner pylon with his left foot - while the ball was in his right hand. Point being the ball never crossed the goalline. I will state i'm not 100% on KHSAA rules. Anyhow the kids played hard on both sides of the ball. Both teams have excellent skill players. For Dixie I can't wait to see Owens, Harrison, Payne play at the high school level!
