I might be totally wrong and off base but for some reason I think I am spot on.

Honest question TB, was it the same crew that did the CovCath vs. HHS JV game?

 

Not sure either, but the crew that did HHS/CCH JV was awful! Missed calls both ways, clear that they made make-up calls, and disgustingly bad at spotting the ball. Especially, on the 55yd Dressman punt that was clearly downed on the 2 and was marked on the 4yd line...What a joke!

First, preston was flagged for pointing out HHS cleared their bench after the fourth down stop. Agree with the bad refs call, just different reason. Biggest problem was they waited till today to use a wildcat offense. Tried to run outside and HHS stopped it everytime. Owens ran strong up middle with regular O then incomes wildcat. Final play : 2pt conversion, wildcat, spread, dive up middle. Gained 6 yards. If play was under center its good and game over. Boys played tough loss falls on preston. Real bad play calling.

Great showing by the S.C.I.T. I'm guessing these two teams can meet again if they both win out. HHS has CCH next week and then Ryle. Who does Dixie have left. Have they played Boone yet? That will be a battle!

Nice to hear Griffin Urlage had a good game. That kid has a lot of upside if he can flick the switch he will be a dandy.

Dixie's first possesion they throw an interception on the sideline. Back judge throws a flag and calls interference when the db and wr both jumped up to get the ball and the HHS kid comes down with it. The same possesion Dixie punts and the ball bounces over the HHS kids head another kid from HHS gets around the ball but never touched it. Spritzky runs out into the endzone throws a fit and the ref changes the call. Ball on like the 5yd line and Dixie scores..In the second half #32 from Dixie is dragging HHS kids down the field as he is running. The Birds are trying to gang tackle the kid, they strip the ball and run for like 40yds down field. The ref out of no where throws a flag on HHS for a face mask. Dixie's ball again...It was horrible!!

 

The ref threw the flag as the play was still happening not out of no where. The facemask was a good call and it happen before the fumble. How about Highlands whole team running onto the field after Dixie fails on their 2pt conversion. Should have been an unsportsman like penalty on Highlands with Dixie kicking off at the Highlands 45. Dixie onside kicks and recovers it with 3 timeouts and you could have had a different ending. A good game played by both teams and Yes the game was poorly Refereed.

It's Greg Preston. QB'd when Dixie beat Trinity a few years ago.

He is about 6'1" and 185 lbs and very hard to match up with 1 on 1. The bad news for the HHS opponents is I don't think he is fully recovered from the pre-season high ankle sprain he suffered.

 

The only question I would have is why doesn't he ever play defense? With his size and strength he would make a nice OLB/DE.

 

Don't know for sure, but maybe he is not playing defense because he is not fully recovered from the ankle sprain. Just speculation.

Best 3 bucks I've spent all year. Very exciting right down to the wire. Good luck to both the rest of the way.

 

I was very surprised that Dixie only dressed 21 or 22 players. Looks like they only played 12 the entire game. Great testament to the kids that played. 75 is a beast. A Dixie parent told me the freshman class is around 500 this year. The number of kids that play football is very small vis-a-vis the size of the freshman class. If they are going to contend for 6A district crowns in 2013 and beyond, the numbers will have to increase. IMO, depth is vital to sustained success at the HS level.

Not to get this thread off track, but I was also surprised at Dixie's JV numbers. With 11 kids on the field, it looked like they only had 13 or 14 on the sideline. Unless they held some Sophs back who had played varsity, it definitely seemed small for a 6A school.
