In a very , very long presser Gov Christie says that he is still not running for POTUS. He was asked to reconsider which he did but came to the same conclusion.

I think like Clyde on this...Christie is banking on an Obama win & then he'll run in 2016. I don't think Christie thinks he's unable to beat Obama. But I think he believes it'll be easier to beat a non-incumbent who doesn't have a near billion dollar war chest.

 

I personally believe Christie can & would beat Obama. I think he's the only Republican who could do it. Romney will get close, but I think he ultimately falls short.

 

This is Christie's year, because 2016 will have Rubio & I think Jeb Bush to contend with, should Obama get re-elected. And then you're probably looking at Hillary in the General.

Rubio, I think, will be the VP choice of whomever wins the Republican primary. He's from an important state & is a rising star within the party. So he'll be fine regardless IMO.

 

As for Bush & Christie, I think both of them are missing out on opportunities by not running. If Romney should win, you would think it would be until at least 2020 before they could run. A Romney win really, really hinders the political futures of Christie & Bush.

I still believe Obama will somehow win - or at least be difficult to beat. His best chance is for Obama to be reelected and run in 2016.

 

A lot has to do with Christie not having any type of an established base from state-to-state. It is hard to set the framework for a Presidential run this late in the game.
