What Services/Products Do You Not Price Shop?

I saw a tweet from a guy today touting an oil-chance service he uses. Got me to thinking about services I'll look for the best price vs those that I do not.

I'm not a price shopper as a rule. Once I find a guy/company I like they're the only one I call until they screw up and even then I'll give them a chance to handle it properly.

I don't price shop for :

Plumbing

Oil change

Vehicle work

Appliance repair

Cars

Gas

I do for :

Generic pizza

For me it depends on how much the work is going to cost. For example if something major is wrong with my vehicle and it's going to cost several hundred $'s I will call a couple of places to check prices.

CellPhone/Cellphone service-I'll never not own an iPhone regardless of what AT&T does to my monthly bill.

DirecTV-I should have switched a long time ago

Shoes-Nike's and K-Swiss is all I wear

Car-just bought a used Lexus a little over a year ago. I'll always buy Lexus from now on.

Apple Computers-Once you go Mac you never go back

Simply Lemonade-I am addicted to Raspberry Simply Lemonade. I call it liquid crack.

When it's something such as repairs of any kind (appliances, vehicles, lawn mower, etc), of which I know nothing, I'm 80-90% trust & 10-20% price. I have to trust you'll do honest and quality work. If you have my trust, I'll pay a little more if needed. If you don't have my trust, you can offer your services for free & you can forget it. If I have two people in whom I trust, and there's difference in price, I obviously will go with the cheaper of the two.

Everything else is pretty much the opposite--80-90% price.

Actually...you could probably add good booze in there too. There was a time where I would try to shop around for that even, but now I have a pretty accurate idea the general cost of things. Also, the difference in price from store to store for a bottle of Blanton's or a sixer of a quality micro-brew or import beer is usually pennies on the dollar.

I price shop darn near everything. Literally the only thing I can think of that I don't price out is records...

No kids for you?

Bingo.

So that's how you have so much time.

I find someone that treats me right and then I stay with them regardless of price. No time to price shop every time one of my 4 cars (down from 5) needs work done.

CWB, I am going to have to go one up on you because I can think of nothing that I don't price shop, from a pencil on up. I'll keep thinking about this but I really can't think of one single thing that I wouldn't compare prices and shop. I don't always buy the cheapest. In fact, more often than not I don't buy the cheapest but I am always looking for the best value.

I'm sure I'll get to that point eventually. Guess I'm enjoying things otherwise while they last.
