How many kids do they have come out now? Do they not have quality feeder programs?

Not as many as they need to field a respectible 3A program. It's really jsut been a problem that goes back to the later stages of Chuke William's term, and the inability to get bodies out for the team has been a major concern. The best athletes have played only basketball....

I believe that it can be done there. But it does appear that the athletic focus is on "other" sports aside from Football. That does not always spell doom for the Football program, but it sure does make the work load heavier.

It's gotta be a really narrow minded coach that promotes only their sport. Is that person really looking out for the best interest of the student?

As I understand it, just from what people that were close to the program during Chuke's reign, he did not allow freshmen to come out. Did not schedule Freshmen games. If this was true he was cutting his own throat and the programs as well. Can anyone verify this? I hope it was not true because you lose a lot of interest and the program suffers for years.

Basically the truth, in his last year or two, very little underclassmen came out, and I dont believe there was a JV program.

What kind of numbers were out at the end of this past season, How many Sophs and Frosh?

I saw on the b-ball roster they have a 6-6 270lb Frosh. Surely this kid plays football too..??...

Our record is 0 for the last 23, and we have been beaten 1329 to 132.

So we need to find someone that can turn this around again, and I dont think that Coach Hilton will do it this time.

25-30 maybe....

That 6'6 270 kid did not play football....

What kind of assistants did Dahlstrom have? Here are some names of guys that were assistants while Dudley was there:

Poynter Head Coach Trimble County

Foley Head coach Frankfort High

Schlarmen Head Coach Newport

Hammons AD Bracken Co./Head BBall coach

Clark Ex-UK Football Player

Dahlstrom Bourbon Head Coach

Tipton I believe helped Dahlstrom the past 2 years

All of these guys taught in the school system at the time as well. There's no way Dahlstrom had that kind of support......

We'll have to call Dudley (Coach K of Duke) the way he puts out Head Coaches.

I think its time for Bourbon Co. and Paris to consolidate.

As if that's going to make a difference. Paris' football program isn't riding high either. Blame coaches all you like ... but it's the kids who must be willing to do the work and if they do, results will come. Excuses has never won a state title, but hard work has! :thumb:

How many city schools have ever consolidated with a county school?

How many city schools have ever consolidated with a county school?

Just to name a few:

Mt. Sterling into Montgomery County ... back in the 70's

Georgetown into Scott County ... back in the 70's

Richmond Madison into Madison Central ... back in the 80's

Maysville into Mason County ... back in the early 90's

Cynthiana into Harrison County ... cannot remember when 50's or 60's

I get the impression that atheletes focus on the hardwood before the gridiron... this is totally up to the guys in the school, obviously their attendance gives them the AAA classification, and that means there are enough boys to play, guys just aren't coming out. It will take a good core group of dedicated hard workers to go from 9-12 to give them some type of foundation. I'd be willing to assume lots of guys dont want to joing a team who shows up every friday night just to get stomped, tough situation.
