Uh, Mr. President, About That Comment

President Obama addressed the UN today.

He said it has been a good year and said the following:

So this has been a remarkable year. The Qaddafi regime is over. Gbagbo, Ben Ali, Mubarak are no longer in power. Osama bin Laden is gone, and the idea that change could only come through violence has been buried with him.

Also I'm pretty sure that the regime changes throughout the middle east weren't from people taking to the street's and peacefully talking about how they were in favor of change but would wait patiently for it too happen. But the Bin Laden thing is the one that really sticks out, which is funny since it directly involved the US.

Looks photoshopped to me, but I could be wrong.

Not photoshoped. Video on Gretta.

I think Obama is referring to the fact that there were regime changes in the middle east without violence. In Egypt for example, Mubarak was ousted without violence. He isn't saying there was no violence at all but that there were some regime changes without violence. That is how I read it.

Mubarak was a US ally. So much for how you treat your friends.

There was no valid reason for action on Qaddafi. Congress never authorized US involvement. Action was under UN direction.

If Obama is the great liberator why is Assad still in charge of Syria? They are actually slaughtering their populace.

Why does Obama not go after Odinga in Kenya. He has slaughtered many and has been responsible for thousands of deaths in Kenya. Family (first cousin) off limits?

What did Obama have to do with Mubarak getting ousted? That truly was a movement of the Egyptian people. The Arab Spring protests that occurred in 10 or more Arab nations are the change without violence that Obama is referring to. The majority of those were not civil wars but public protests and uprisings that arose from the people in those nations.

Why would he brag about his ouster? He appears to want to be a hero to Muslim people or at least the Muslim Brotherhood.

Notice that Assad has not made the mistake Mubarak did. Assad has been brutal in dealing with masses. Mubarak was far more civilized and did not slaughter his own people. Now he is on trial for his life. And brutal Assad may still be around 10 years from now.

This is commendable?
