Breathitt County 20 Somerset 0

Thanks for the update pirate. Nice win for Breathitt. Sounds like the D really stepped up.

Breathitt asserts themselves amongst the group of 3A teams that appeared to clearly be at the top of the heap.

Good win for the Bobcats.I felt they would win but didnt expect this.

I miss one game in 5 years...geez

Kind of saw this coming after last weeks game.

Jumpers will get back to work and get after it next week.

I thought Breathitt would win this one. Somerset lost too much from last years team and Breathitt from what I understand did not lose alot.

Breathitt certainly looks like a strong contender to represent the east in 3a this year. Them and Belfry both looking strong...

Breathitt County has a very nice team and played a great game. Somerset had some chances but couldn't cash them in. Breathitt burned Somerset over the top on the 3rd play for a long touchdown pass but after that Somerset's defense did a pretty nice job. The defense allowed another touchdown drive in the second quarter and the last Bobcat score came after Somerset hung their heads a little bit after being stopped late in the 4th quarter. Somerset had a chance to cut the score to 14-7 heading to the 4th quarter but fumbled a snap on 4th and goal from about 1 foot out. Had the Jumpers punched that one in it could have gotten really interesting. The credit has to go to Breathitt County though as Somerset was able to get the ball into the red zone 3 times (and inside the 10 twice) and the Bobcats did not allow the Jumpers to punch it in. On another night this one might have went the other way but last night Breathitt was just the better team. I don't think this game exposed anything about Somerset and the Jumpers didn't get pushed around. They have the chance to take this game, fix their mistakes and make a deep run in the playoffs. If Breathitt keeps improving they have a great chance to represent the east in the state finals as they will be hard to beat at home in the semi-finals.

I agree. The team's were pretty closely matched, IMO. The difference was Breathitt's defense stiffening in the red zone and keeping the Briar Jumpers out of the end zone. The two teams and this game are/was closer than this score would suggest.

All around ugly game! Somerset had a few chances but Breathitt Co. seemed to shut down every drive. If anything, I think Somerset's youth and inexperience was exposed. It's really hard to replace 19 seniors and expect to pick up right where they left off. The Jumpers still have a load of talent... come post season, Coach Lucas will have 'em ready, these younger players will be battle tested and the Briar Jumpers should be clicking on all cylinders. Best wishes the remainder of the year.

I can't remember who said it. However I remember someone saying Breathitt wouldn't be ready for a team like Somerset, and I told them that this Breathitt team is the real deal. Hopefully they see what what I meant now.

Somerset just played them in the playoffs last year and nearly lost. Don't know why someone would say that.
