If McCoy is a lock for '12, shouldn't we see him under center....

From what I've heard (only seen the Dixie game), why wouldn't Drew remain at QB and keep McCoy at an athlete position. Obviously Coach Mueller knows best, but Drew hasn't done anything to dispel him getting varsity snaps next year????

I have no knowledge of the situation, but that is the way I see it playing out next year. Makes more sense. Can Drew play an athlete position as well as McCoy? If not, then you have your answer.

thats a great question for the cake town faithful, more like Coach Mueller, but if not, I'd keep McCoy as a playmaker and Drew as the conductor. It will be interesting to see how it plays out next year.

It is ok to have some fun and chat about this and that, but when it comes to Highlands ... it is next to impossible to second guess anything Dale does. I am sure he makes a mistake here and there but it is hard to name one. No doubt he has a plan for McCoy and next year already in mind and the odds are very high that his decision on when and where to play him is going to work out just fine.

McCoy takes some reps at quarterback in practice.

If I recall properly, when Will Bardo started at corner his junior year and was the backup QB, he got limited experience in mop up duty at the QB spot. He did just fine his senior year at the QB spot prior to getting hurt. Dale is playing for this year and wants to keep McCoy healthy. If he's going to pull the starting O line when the Birds get up big (and he should) there is zero, absolutely zero reason to put McCoy out there with the back up O line. Hope that helps answer your question Whackem.

I have 2 questions for no reason other than curiosity

Is Will Bardo the QB that got hurt in the St. X game if not what was that kids name?

Were there 2 Bardo's and 2 Cecil's that played QB for the Birds in the last 10 or so years?

McCoy went under center 1 series tonight and looked decent before halftime. Houliston took over 2nd half. That was the first time I saw McCoy take a snap since the Dixie playoff in '10. He obviously was showing rust from not playing at that position which is understandable to say the least. After tonight, it appears that McCoy may very well end up somewhere else.....And here I thought we'd have another Cecil in '12.

How did Houliston do? I am still all in on him. With all do respect to McCoy he could start on 80% of KY teams. I think he is very rounded a very good football player you can play at multiple spots. Houliston seems to be more of a QB prospect.

I think Dale spoke tonight without uttering a sound.

McCoy came into the game with 45 seconds left in the first half and probably passed for 70 or 80 yards plus a touchdown during that time. I don't know what else you wanted him to do. He will be a problem for teams because of his passing and running ability. I think he can be every bit as good or better than Cecil.

No, doubt. I'm certainly not knockin' him. A little rust is normal and to be expected. He's probably my favorite player on the team. I like the ball in his hands, period. Like LN said, who really knows what's going to happen.

McCoy will be the QB in 12

Much better legs and arm....It will be Drew's team in 13

Lets enjoy 2011 for the next 11 games....

Agreed TBirds. He is quite frankly the best athlete on the team and you always want that guy at QB. It just so happens he has played that position quite well over the past couple years. Trust me, when this season ends he will start working in the offseason on refining his QB skills. If you have sen him play the position then you know. The only thing keeping him from playing it is a 6'5 stud UK recruit who flicks balls 80 yards off his back foot.
