How much fun would it have been if Bill Clinton had a camera phone lol. No doubt they would have subpoena'd his phone, hell I'd bet $$$ he's got pics on his current phone.

I'm not running for office, so it doesn't really matter that much.

 

I've got no kids, but what you speak of is a dilemma facing many parents. I think that's a case where you're speaking from a position of authority from the standpoint of "don't make the same mistakes I did." Perhaps those folks are being hypocritical, but necessarily so, I would think. If you think we live in a country of declining morals now, imagine what it would be like if all parents took the approach you outlined?

 

If parent says "dont do drugs...they'll mess up your brain...this is what they did to me when I was younger" = honesty

If parent says "dont do drugs...they'll mess up your brain" + parent goes out and does drugs afterwards = hypocrite

If parent says "dont do drugs...I've never done drugs" + parent HAS done drugs before = liar

Please look up the definition of the word hypocrite before you smack your head. Please also read the rest of my post. I never said he was right for anything that he did, just that it is not hypocritical. Again, lying is not the same as being a hypocrite.

That would be a liar...not a hypocrite. I think P&R needs a dictionary.

 

Point taken, but if you recall this was the same timeframe of the media gushing over Bill & Hillary's "walking on the beach--So in love" staged pictures--That would be somewhat hypocritical?

I think the actual quote was "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinski."

 

You can make an argument that technically, he was correct on that, but I'm not going there.

 

Bottom line ... I'm really not that concerned about what politicians do in their private life, as long as it doesn't interfere with how they perform their job. Whatever Sarah Palin may or may not have done with Glen Rice or her husband's business partner, I don't really care. Did it cause a problem with how she carried out her duties on her half-term of governor? Doubtful.

 

But if you portray yourself as a family-values politician, you have to be ready to accept the fallout if it turns out that you've been morally or ethically challenged yourself.

 

This brings to mind the old joke about Hillary giving Chelsey the 3rd degree about her relationship with her boyfriend. Hil--did you have relations with that boy?? Chels--Not according to Dad"!!
