I am like Ram in that I was suprised to see Beechwood move from the top slot, they have won and imo should stay at 1. That is no slam on Mayfield, both imo are by far the best in 1A,jmo.

Fairview, I thought would maybe be higher. Yes they play a weak schedule but that is the only thing that one can say against them. They can flat out play and coach McPeek is not running up the scores for rankings. He plays everyone and developing depth. Fairview will be a tough out in the district and playoffs.

Don't guess I understand it, Beechwood has been our #1 and they are still undefeated plus their seniors won the NKY frosh championship over FTH. Why now? The Cards impressive win over PT or the near implosion of Beechwood against Holmes? G you tell us, what changed your panels choice for #1. Given what Bw returns I would tend to give them the nod but May has progressed much better than I expected. Obviously, I am undecided on whether to agree or disagree

There will always be a few that put too much stock in the past, but most of us know it has zero bearing on 2011. I will say, regardless of what some say, that was a real special year for folks "directly" affiliated with that team. For the folks that say it doesn't mean anything to anyone...well, you can bet your last dollar on whether they were a part of it or not. "Anytime" you can beat Highlands, I couldn't care less if the boy's were in diapers...I'm screaming from the mountaintop!

 

As for the rankings, they are fine.. I'm a little surprised BW dropped after making so many mistakes and still beat a 4A team in a pretty hostile environment, but I think dropping BW is more demeaning to Holmes than BW. If BW goes in to dist play undefeated (very very tall task) then they'll jump MF in several polls, but if not, they won't have a shot at topping MF again until the 25th of Nov

I have no problem with Mayfield and Beechwood swapping. I thought Mayfield should have been the preseason #1 with what they had returning. There were some people who questioned Mayfield's close win over a larger Greenwood team and felt that was enough to keep Beechwood #1. By that logic, Beechwood's close win over a larger Holmes team should be enough to swap them again.

The BGP poll is the only one that has had Beechwood ranked ahead of Mayfield to start with, so, no real surprise there.. The bigger surprise, imo, was them being ranked ahead to start of the season..

Beechwood is #1.The Seniors were NKy Freshmen champs. What more can you say.

I was just going on the bgp poll. I honestly believe that the two are interchangeable. All I was thinking was if they were ranked at the top and won then they should have stayed there.

No doubt a tough call but they struggled last week and half of tonights game and lost 2 of their highly touted linemen possibly for the year. Then out west Mayfield appears to be ahead of schedule getting their youngsters up to par as was evident from the thrashing they gave Paducah Tilghman. Given all that I can certainly understand why Mayfield jump over them into the top spot I just have yet to decide if I agree or not. We will learn more about Mayfield tommrow night when they take on a very talented Murray High team

Crunch, toothy is like me. We have picked and barring injuries I think Mayfield will handle BW with ease. Mayfield's defense is better than last years and our offense aint bad either. The real question is has BW's offense improved geatly from last year? If they haven't it will be tough sledding in Nov. Crunch, you may think I don't know what I'm talking about but I try to call em as I see em and I'm right with great regularity on Mayfield and 1A football. I will say its not a virtual lock for Mayfield but its theirs to lose

The 9/17 game, Beechwood versus Covington Catholic is going to be a huge indication of where Beechwood is at this point in the season and where they need to get better. There is no doubt this Beechwood team is better than last year's. The CCH game will tell everyone where things truly stand for Beechwood.

Well Snake, it is what it is, right? BW's still needs a bit of work stopping the pass, but MF couldn't run on us last year and they won't this year either. Luke picked us apart; however, he wasn't pressured. I like Jake alot, but he WILL get pressured, guaranteed! so if he is able to make the right decisions and be on target with his quick hitters before the pressure comes...then it may be another long night for BW. If not, I like our chances, but I won't boast and look foolish by saying it will be done with ease.

 

I like and respect "Toothy" and for the most part, I usually agree with him...except when he plays his childish games on here. However, "You" talk too much just to hear your head rattle. Whenever you aren't blowing smoke (which is rarely), or sounding like our favorite SK fan, you tend to add more value on here
